Arsh: Is Being Optimist Too Difficult?

After trying ten thousand times to invent a light bulb, Thomas Edison said that he hadn’t failed. Instead, he had figured out 10,000 ways it didn’t work. This is the true meaning of Optimism.

Many people in today’s world have made it a habit to use the words “I cannot” before even trying. I feel that removing “not” from cannot can change a person’s attitude towards life, allowing him to look at the same thing with a new perspective and giving his best shot at it!

A research shows that giving negative comments to yourself demoralises one’s brain, causing it to create feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. These feelings are dangerous for the body as it can create chronic stress, which upsets the body's hormone balance, depletes the brain chemicals required for happiness and damages the immune system. Whereas, positive thinking leads to a longer lifespan, better cardiovascular health and most importantly, changes your outlook towards life. It allows you to look at problems with a new perspective and helps you overcome the problem, not by looking at it as a problem but by looking at it as a menial task.

What you just read was being optimistic towards yourself, but, in a competitive dog eat dog world like ours, it is tough to be confident when others are always trying to drag you down. In such a situation, being cool, calm and collected would be the best choice.

In life, we should learn to be deaf to negative thoughts as even a word may have the power to choose between life and death. In fact, why not feed others positive energy and change their way of living? This would indeed be a small change but you have an opportunity to make a tiny but a very important change in the society. Let’s take this opportunity and keep the positive vibes going around.
