Anusha: Can Green Revolution Curb Pollution?

Maybe not all of us can be experts and not all of us can be experienced climatologists. We’re all just normal people busy with our work and as a child, I would be lying if I said I don’t have worries about the future, actually the truth is that  the deadline is drawing closer. The more technologically savvy our societies become and as our cities become larger and urbanised our connection with the nature gets weaker and weaker. Green revolution is the best solution to arrest pollution.

This is an age of consumerism. Globalisation has intensified it. Due to this industrialisation and civilisation the pollution levels have increased to a great extent. In reality pollution is nothing but like a slow poison which is disturbing us and our living very badly. Not only in all the aspects such as physically, mentally, socially, and intellectually. It is not so easy to stop it at once however, not so tough to prevent it gradually. But in such a situation, afforestation can very much help us to reduce pollution. As trees help to reduce ozone levels in urban areas,  they sequester carbon, helping to remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which cools the Earth and as the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, stabilise the soil and give life to the world's wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter. In fact, a mature canopy tree absorbs enough carbon and releases enough oxygen to sustain two human beings!

Actually, when you go green, you are effectively reducing your carbon footprint. By reducing pollution, you are reducing the amount of energy that is being used and creating a greener and cleaner environment.

Along with going green we can curb pollution by encouraging our family to use the bus, train or bike when commuting. If we all do this, there will be fewer cars on road and less fumes. Recycle and re-use things. This will minimize the dependence of producing new things. Remember manufacturing industries create a lot of pollution, so if we can re-use things like shopping plastic bags, clothing, paper and bottles, it can help. Wise usage of energy will cut down the amount of pollution we create.

I am a caring daughter of my mother Earth who is ailing with her stretched arms to save it's environment which is at the brink of a disaster. Man has changed this green paradise into a concrete jungle. In the end, I would like to say that if we want to see pollution free world, our dream can only become a reality if we take appropriate steps and 'go green before green goes'

Definitely green revolution is a better way to curb pollution as humans have emitted five times the carbon dioxide that can be absorbed by plants. So we need to plant more trees so that rate of absorption of carbon dioxide can be increased and hence, pollution can be reduced.

Yes it is true to increase greenery in our today''s world I appreciate and thank you Anusha for an great article but according to my point of view planting trees is only the solution for reducing pollution because trees can only purify but not the disease so it is also important to keep our society clean.so the more greenery and clean the healthy life we get.ao it is also important to keep clean environment to reduce pollution.

Exactly! I agree with you completely. We should make efforts to save Mother Earth. Everyone should plant more and more trees. Pollution should be nullified by all means.
