Aliyah: What Is Lacking In Indian Education System?

The education systems in India and the US differ where rules and regulations are concerned apart from the overall approach towards learning. What greatly surprised me in the US was how every child's wishes and dreams are respected and he or she is encouraged at every step to realise a vision that will eventually lead to the emergence of our next-generation leaders. Indian schools' main focus is to stereotype students according to the jobs in the industry.

Right from the first year of high school, students entering the ninth grade are allowed to choose a stream of study and/or a specific subject which will decide electives throughout high school. In the US, students are also encouraged to participate in activities outside school like photography and dancing. They also have access to after-school clubs and organisations uniting students with common interests.

In India traditional methods ensure that students avoid distractions, and focus on studies. But, on the other hand, Maths, Science and engineering are unnecessarily stressed upon, leading to a low morale in some students especially when individual aspirations are ignored. On the positive side, India has produced innumerable scientists, engineers, CEOs and mathematicians who are now successful all over the world due to the country’s high standards of learning.

In Indian schools, ranks in class and grades are announced, which often has a negative impact on some students, who may not be the best. In US schools, grades are always kept private.

US schools look after the hygiene factor as well as convenience for students. All students are divided into groups for lunch and eat in a friendly atmosphere in the cafeteria.

Restrooms are cleaned regularly, and classrooms are air-conditioned. Moreover, only students living within a specific radius of a given school get admission to make travelling less of a hassle for parents and students.

Perhaps the most noticeable difference between schools in the two countries is the independence allowed in the US. There is no uniform. Instead, students may wear whatever they choose, as long as they adhere to a certain dress code. I feel, schools in India and US have their own priorities and regulations, but both follow excellent regimes to educate children to the best of their abilities.

The main thing which is lacking in Indian Education System is the pressure from parents and teachers on the students.some students are forced to take science stream instead of commerce or humanities because of society thinking as they thinks that toppers take science, average take commerce and below average take humanities because of this reason many times student being under pressure do not succeed in their life and choose the path decided by their parents in which they are not interested,
