From Sanskaari to Sinskaari; All Is Well For Alok Nath

Guess what Sanskaari Babuji of entertainment is up to these days? Veteran actor Alok Nath is all set to announce his next innings albeit in a new avatar. Nath will be seen on your mobile and laptop screens. Deebashree Mohanty chats him up

He has been playing the role of sanskaari babuji since the 90s but actor Alok Nath wants to do away with his this tag finally. "I have always laughed it off as a joke but I did some seriouls thinking and decided to try out a different medium and genre altogether," he tells you. He is set to reinvent his image with his latest web series, Sinskaari Babuji. Being released on the Voot platform, this is a chat show that will see Nath as the host interacting with celebrities and talking about things that one would find very difficult to associate with his image, such as premarital sex and role play!

It was not an easy choice for him to make, Nath confides. “Initially, I was not sure if I could pull this off or not but the producers of the show convinced me to give it a try,” says Nath. Sinskaari Babuji is being co-produced by Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman of the Roadies fame.

What is the chat show all about? Nath explains that the show begins with a spoof that Babuji has signed the contract thinking it was a 'Sanskaari' show but the day he comes for the first day of shoot, he realises that it is actually Sinskaari. He is compelled to host this show with adult content, but all the while he is trying to infuse it with his sanskaars!

Nath also tells you, “I have shot for a couple of episodes as of now – one with Raghu-Rajiv and one with Mandana Karimi. And let me tell you, that I am having a ball. It's really a fascinating show. It is almost time for me to hang my boots and enjoy life... that's exactly what I am doing right now," he says.

It is the first time that Nath has ventured onto the web platform but he says that the audience for this very different medium is also different from the usual audience he caters to. “This is a great medium to express yourself. The best part about a web series is that you can – watch, share, like. That's enough marketing for me,” the veteran tells you.
