Why Can't Text Books Go Digital?

For most of the schools, digital education ends at a projector in the classroom, nothing beyond this. Everything is happening on the internet these days, so why not studies?

Someone should put a thought into why school children are make to carry those heavy bags. Why can't these be replaced by something light? Something like a tablet or a phone. It’s not just me who thinks this way; the thought is quite common with students across the country who are burdened with heavy bags and books. Even though people say that "we are going to do something about this” but unfortunately no one does anything.

We have moved from table fan to air-conditioner, from a big computer to a small iPhone, from a bullock cart to swanky cars, but the heavy bags have remained where they were.

If we can develop a device where we can create and share classroom notes electronically, it would ease our burden. Sure it does sound like a dream but if we can change 500 and 1000 rupees notes then why can't we change our education system. Agreed, some people may not be able to afford it, but the government can introduce subsidies on the device to make it affordable.

Studying on phones may affect eye. constantly reading on mobiles causes many side effects.the small screen makes so diifficult to study in mobile continously.books make free to study anywhere.but making textbook digital is good idea ,but it doesn''t work in present education system

Manav Lodha Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School

I don''t prefer this because it might effect our eyes and it would rather distract us from studies . It is better with books .

Aadrit Banerjee Apeejay School Salt Lake

The essence of books is fading away because of this digital era...replacing text books with ebooks will be fine but won''t it be too expensive especially when we are trying so hard to minimise the gap between the rich and the poor... moreover so much ''digitalness'' can harm our health in the long run...

Anish Gurushankar The Orbis School

Yes, Textbooks can go digital as now days we get more and more information from digital learning in many ways. This will help the child get good knowledge..

REYA JESSICA Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Yes It sounds a good idea instead of carrying those load texts it would be better , it would serve better to our present educational system

K.Eswara adithan VANI VIDYALAYA S.S.S & JR. COLG

Already people became lazy due to technology, not ready to search any information in library. If text books becomes digital, that''s it they will become too lazy. The eager felling to find something will get suppressed. If every information is got easily then there will be no respect to teachers, elders, and our guides. There will be no need of schools. This will cause unemployment and somehow our society will get affected.

Medha Gaur P.Obul Reddy Public School

They are not affordable i.e. cannot reach the poor. This in turn divides society into haves or have nots .You cant lend or resell these books. This leads to a lot of waste generation. Since the life of a student revolves around books, using e-books can have a negative impact on the eyes

Dhwani Advani UNIVERSAL HIGH SCHOOL-DAHISAR(E)

Having digital books and studying on tablets and phones may certainly be a lighter burden than paper backs but reading on phones or tablets for long periods of time can affect our eyes in the long run. Also paper books are always better as they don''t affect your eyes and you can read them however you want without any difficulty.

hisham SISTER NIVEDITA SCHOOL,Ameerpet

we cannot read digital as it will affect our eyes as well as zooming in the screen make it more unclear for reading or learning in books and notes are better than reading it digital.

RIYA MITTAL Convent of Jesus and Mary

No i think this is a bad move . Too much technology affects our eyes due to harmful radiations. It will also end the joy of studying and there won''t be a good student-teacher relation.
