Tarunika: Celebrate The True SpirIt Of Festivals

Festivals are a time of great joy and happiness. They are an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. India is a land of festivals, right from Sankranti, Holi, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid, Diwali and X’mas to name a few. The holiday season is on and it’s time for celebrations. But celebrations have transformed over the years from their true spirit of sharing love, camaraderie, kindness, compassion to ostentation, competition and pollution.

There was a time when X’mas ensembles were eco-friendly. Today, most of the paraphernalia are non-biodegradable. What we should all remember is that X’mas is a celebration of the birth of Christ who stood for simplicity, love and peace.
Let us live the spirit of the festival by using eco-friendly objects, curb display of wealth and use it for bringing smiles to less privileged. Instead of gifting the wealthy, gift the needy.
It’s foolishness to waste our money on all things that don’t matter, why don’t we keep the spirit of celebrations high and expenses and wastage as low as possible? The money saved can be gifted to the needy. There are many street children who would love to be a part of our celebrations. Treating them will give us a lot of pleasure; something that money cannot buy.  On that note, wish you a Happy New Year!

We have to celebrate the true spirit of festivals. If we are happy and enjoyable, we can make our expenses and wastage as low as possible.I celebrate my festivals by rousing mesmerising thoughts. You can also celebrate in this manner and invite the solution of sadness that is happiness.

Very well said tarunika! the spirit of festival is what we all have forgotten, we need to remember that life and fun is present in not wordly pleasures as very rightly it has been said, money can buy bed but not sleep, can buy food, but not hunger and followers but not love, so lets look beyond the materialistic world
