Sudhanshu Says School Bags Burden Students Body, Mind
Sudhanshu Singh, student, Oxford International School, Mumbai

Every child going to school is bent over with the burden of carrying too many books. Their school bags weigh down their tiny backs, stunting their physical growth or giving them backache. The prime aim of education should be served by redefining lessons and getting students actively involved in the learning process. Students should be made independent and allowed to make their own decisions regarding the selection of their career stream, as well as saying no to things, which they disprove of. The first thing is that we should prepare a schedule so that we have some time to arrange books according to the timetable. Students should follow these simple steps to reduce the weight of their school bag: choose a quality backpack for school, pack only what is necessary, pack the heaviest items at the bottom of the pack and the lightest at the top, organise your subject material regularly, try storing items in your school locker.

Introduce e-books in schools
Computers have helped a lot in the advancement of education. One important invention is the E-book which is so popular nowadays. Portable and extremely handy, E-books can be read everywhere and at anytime. Education can actually become more interesting and productive if E-books are brought into the school curriculum. They will be very useful for students who always have to carry a lot of heavy textbooks to school. E-books take up less space and you can store hundreds and thousands of E-books on your computer or reading devices

introduce Block periods and e- notes for children so that the weight of the notebooks will at least decrease or children will read from the books in the library.

The problem is that most of the schools do not provide lockers to students due to which the students have to bring all the books according to the timetable. If they provide lockers then the students can keep their some books in the lockers. Secondly the school prepare such timetable in which in some days all the periods are there so the students have to compulsorily bring all the books. The schools should take some steps to lessen the weight of the school bags

Susila Suresh Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

School should keep lockers so that the children can keep the books in the lockers. They can carry only few books which are needed to do their homeworks. Parents much watch their children carrying heavy loads. They should supply quality bags which can lessen their load,

Sachika Lala BGS National Public School

The problem is that many students do not mind carrying all the unnecessary books, not knowing how it may affect them in the future. The teachers should also take it up as to check the bags regularly and ask the students to bring only those books which are necessary for that day''s study. Using the school lockers and shelves is also a good idea.

Really the school bags are very heavy but our government had tryed and trying to make our school bags of less weight

NAVYA MALHOTRA SWARAJ INDIA PUBLIC SCHOOL

They spoil your posture .Till we are under the burden of books ,I cannot expect the world to improve

Maruf Khan ARMY SCHOOL - DIGHI ARMY SCHOOL - D

I think bags are really a burden on students. We even had a skit on this in our school. But there are many solutions to this ''bag burden'' like using lockers introducing tablets instead of books in schools.

Heti Desai SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR

Yes school bags are really very heavy. School should have a system of biding books so that student''s bag is light weighed and also keeping books like art and craft in school.

Heti Desai SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR

Yes I agree to this point about burden of school bags. they should keep some books like art in school and make a rule of biding it.

The good part about ebooks is that it is simply weightless and their cost is fairly affordable. It will also help the generation to take another step towards digital learning which will enhance the experience. The paperback books have indeed become the past. I think that schools should make improve in syllabus so that they could introduce smart learning instead of rote learning. In the world of technological advancement, students are still supposed to carry a burden more than its own weight. Introducing E-books will not only lighten the load but they will be relieved from burden on their mind also.

N Padma Priya NAGARJUNA VIDYANIKETAN

Though we have lockers in our school we everyday get homework in almost all the subjects, thus we have to carry a lot of books. I think they should introduce a system where we have one subject per day, so that we don''t have to carry the heavy bags.

Sahana Sriram ASN SR.SEC.SCHOOL (MAYUR VIHAR PH 1

Instead of books we can use laptops in schools or there should be lockers in the classrooms itself so students won''t carry such heavy books.

Harini.V Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Students are facing many problems like back pain, because of the heavy weighing school bags. The schools should understand this problem and they should frame timetable so that only few books are carried each day. The teachers also should understand the difficulty in carrying so many books. They can help the students by allowing them to keep their books in school cupboards or lockers. If the future generations can bring tabs instead of books, it would be very helpful.

Raunak Maini MODERN SCHOOL(BARAKHAMBA ROAD)

I don''t think school bags should be done away with. Lockers can be introduced if space is there but that will start a whole new chapter of theft and fights in the school. Students should only carry what they actually need and set their bags as per the time table.

P.S Geethanjali Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Sri Venkateswara vidyalaya,T

Our school should introduce a system to keep bring two bags to school, keep all the books in a bag and keep it in the school provided shelf and carry all the homework books in the other bag to home. This helps students a lot.By keeping all the books in the shelf there is no need to get scoldings by the teacher when you forgot a book. The schools can also introduce a e-books this really helps students.By carrying heavy bags students are facing a lot of problems.

Vatanesh Sharma THE OXFORD SENIOR SEC SCH

Really the school bags are very heavy. e-books will be very helpful to reduce the weight of our bags.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

Yes its time for our governments to think about providing laptops for children in schools instead of books. They can even refer to other sources to enhance their knowledge .

Janusia Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Of course, carrying too much books to the school make us very tired. It is better if school provides locker for every student. When we carry so many books to school our our shoulders and back are bent.Students coming from long distances to school will feel very painful. The government should make a decision for this!
