Sanjana Mehta: Why Crush Men To Put Women Above Them?

Feminism, by definition, is the idea of establishing equality between men and women. So why are we trying to crush men to put women above them? The true essence of feminism lies in putting women at par with men and not above them. It is true that women need upliftment because they have been suppressed for way too long, but that cannot be achieved by giving reservations or special rights. To achieve this goal, we first need to learn how to respect women in our society. It is also important to accept the fact that men and women cannot be treated equally in all areas because they are not the same. Men and women are different biologically. We often talk about how women are undervalued and they sacrifice so much after marriage and give up their career and dreams for the sake of their family and children. While all this is true, we tend to forget that men also have made their share of sacrifices. They give up their freedom for marriage. If the woman manages the house, the man  makes sure there is a house; if a woman takes care of the child, a man also earns to give a secure life to the child. One cannot compare oranges with apples, so, instead of comparing men and women and trying to achieve ‘equality’ we should accept the genders as they are.

I solemnly accept what you say because the world has grown to a stage in which women gain importance by sympathy or any other special rights which make them outwardly strong but not physically and mentally. So let this world accept women par with the men without any inequality and sympathies.

I strongly agree with you. The thing is that we have misunderstood the meaning of "women equality". We take it as women to get a better status than that of men which is completely wrong. From the past decade, we are taking this word ahead without knowing its correct meaning. So without any prejudice or discrimination, the women have shown this world through their calibre and potential that they are equivalent to men not above them.

I am not of this mindset. Why is it a girl has to leave her dreams. A boy can also take care of the family, children, do household chores. Biological differences do not define the jobs and the work person has to do. It should not be the case that one is obliged to do one work both should handle the responsibilties of home as well as work equally.

See, to me this goes a little bewildering because it is not at all possible to crush any specific gender as though since every gender is special and is important in its own way. It isn''t that we are being more empathetic to women and dominating men, it is just that because of those critics and narrow-minded people who have put women into such a miserable situation wherein women have become so vulnerable that today they need or desire for people''s understanding towards their existence.

i think this is what everyone has been missing and people should really think about it.

It is not that just because we want the women to be seen in existence, we crush the men down. But it was all because of the narrow-minded living in the society who didn''t give importance to the women. Hence, we should give equal importance to all genders.

"It is also important to accept the fact that men and women cannot be treated equally in all areas because they are not the same." yes, men and women are biologically different. but why should they be treated differently? despite the differences, women are capable of doing what men can do. a man should also share the responsibility of managing the house a woman should also contribute to the economy of the family. why create boundaries based on gender?

What you say is absolutely correct.I being a boy can understand how much more girls are given importance than boys.Boys are doing a lot for women and even when they get married they are earning money but every time it is said that the mother is the one who cares for you the most.I am not telling that mothers don''t but fathers don''t get that much of attention .

Kashish Kakkar G.D. GOENAKA PASCHIM VIHAR

I agree with uh . Equality is needed nothing sceptical but yah side by side we are forgetting that both the genders are equally significant for our society but yes then women should be allowed to gain education and then prove their potentials. So our world should learn to accept both the genders as they are..

Animikha Dutta Dhar Mahadevi Birla World Academy

I agree with you I think women should establish them by doing deeds. Both the genders should get equal rights but that doesn''t mean men should make women at a higher level than them ,they should always be equal.Afterall feminism means women should get the chance to establih themselves.
