Om: Understand The Essence Of Gender Equality

Whenever we talk about gender equality the main thing that strikes a person’s mind is the equality between rights and wishes of men and women. However, what goes missing is the inequality shown towards the third genders.

Every time social awareness programs are conducted for girl child’s education, giving rights to women and so on. Children are thought from childhood to respect female but what remains left behind from the moral education imparted by parents to the school curriculum is the point of view and perspectives to respect and how to behave with the third gender.

Every time I travel by a local train, I observe that whenever the trans persons come to beg for money, they get ignored by most of the passengers and many a times in the streets or any other places they have to face severe criticism.

They are always end up being the victim of harassment. The very cause for this is the lack of social understanding in public. The third gender always faces the worst kind of discrimination for being different from others.

Over the last decade, more than three people per month have died due to such harassment or prejudice. Every year a number of crimes are committed against the third gender in India as well as across the world.

We may conduct seminars or do awareness programs but until everyone as a citizen will not realise their true duty then I am afraid that this beautiful planet of ours is tipping towards hell and it is gaining speed every single second and it’s only we who can stop this massive devastation.
