Mahek Saneja Writes On India's Rich Heritage

India is a land of rich cultural diversities and people from different backgrounds. Different languages, dresses, dance, music and monuments over the ages have creates our rich Indian heritage. Despite assimilating western culture, our civilisation will still retain its continuity. It’s not only we who are adopting western culture, the west too is adopting some Indian traditions. India is the birthplace of ayurveda and yoga which have many followers in the west. Games like chess, snakes and ladders, playing cards, polo, judo and karate originated in India. Indian mathematicians have made important contributions to the study of the decimal number system, zero, negative numbers, algebra, etc. Classical Indian music and dance have a wide fan following all over the world. Each state has its own art forms which are well documented. Cuisine too is an important part of our heritage. As Indians, we ought to be proud of our rich heritage and strive to preserve it for our descendants by respecting and ensuring its survival.
