Kasturi: Books Help Escape The Madness Of The World

As per Google, one's Happy Place is a place that makes them feel calm and happy; because it helps them stop thinking about a bad situation. Books are my happy place, especially if served with a slice of soft piano music and the setting sun. The pinkish-purple sky makes life seem so flawless and romantic!

I, like most other teenage girls, am a huge fan of romance novels. It's the descriptions in such books that draws me to this particular genre. While some descriptions are so ridiculously fake that they make me laugh and gag at the same time, some just mesmerize and leave me completely transfixed by the imagery that unfolds in front of me.

The parts where, for instance, the writer introduces a beautiful meadow — lush green, which stretches out as far as one's eyes take them, delightful flowers whose names remain unknown as they seem to have cast a spell on the onlookers, the flush of dusk in the sky hinting at the setting sun at the far edge of the horizon. The breeze carrying a subtle mellow music as it brushes against the body.

Everything is so fairy-like and somewhat out of reach for us when we read about them. Unintentionally, at times, the stories we read also make us seem like we are living less or that we are lacking direction in life. But that's not true. We are living just fine. Books are not a constant reminder of the things that we lack in our lives. They create a space for us to visit in our leisure time to escape the madness of the world. They act as a hideout when everything gets too intense for our liking and we want out. It presents to us an aesthetically pleasing world to live in. It helps us in imagining a life which is better than the one we are living in right now and hence acts as the driving force which finally leads us to achieve our dream life.

It might seem impossible now, as teenage years are full of doubts for the future, but we are all going to make it to our dreams. We need to take all the hardships in our stride and be focused on our goal! Hard work and perseverance never fails anyone.

So although it might seem like a far-fetched circumstance now, one day it will be the reality. Till then, keep dreaming with your eyes open and mind focused!
