Debolina Mondal: Why ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ Is Wrong

Man has always struggled for existence, making him very selfish. This materialistic world has contributed greatly to creating ruthless people. Capitalist and consumerist forces compel lesser mortals to be obsessed with individual aspirations and hopes. This is a negative attribute, though many justify it saying it’s 'survival of the fittest'! In this age of cut-throat competition, one needs to be self-obsessed to be an achiever which should not be so, because the very basis of society lies in mutual understanding and cooperation. A race, society, and a nation can foster a well-rounded community bound only by mutual love, respect and sacrifice.
