Aditi Krishnakumar Writes On The Choice Of A Career

You are only a teenager, too young and inexperienced to handle the “complexities” of adulthood”.

Having heard this sentence repeatedly, how are we suddenly expected to choose a career and make the most crucial and impactful decision of our lives? Though we try not to succumb to the age-old trap of “Doctor or Engineer”, many of us just don’t know what else is an option. Unless the two careers are our passion, we find ourselves inevitably boxed in with these choices. Our fascination with subjects like art and music are often brushed aside as hobbies or with a question like “how much money would they possibly bring?” So, not only do we have to narrow down our passions to specific careers, we also have to make sure they provide enough money and will not be replaced by technology. For those who have been able to answer this question, I envy you. For the rest of us, the clock is ticking.

You are right. I am interested to make my hobbies my profession but when I say my aim I just say I wanna become a scientist as I love science. Students have to think on it.
