How To Avoid Accidental Clicks While Typing

Quite a lot of time that we spend working on our computers goes towards typing one thing or the other. From e-mail to textual documents, the list is basically endless. Now, it goes without saying that typing (just like writing on paper) is one activity that requires proper concentration. There might have been times when you're typing away an important e-mail or maybe finishing up a report that's due next day on your laptop and your palm accidentally brushes against the touchpad, causing the mouse pointer to jump to a random location. Sounds familiar, right? Having the mouse pointer wander off randomly not only breaks concentration while typing, but it's also really frustrating. But thankfully, you can easily disable the touchpad while typing in Windows, using a freeware utility called TouchFreeze. Here's how to do it:

Step 1: Download the freeware TouchFreeze utility and install it. At less than 300 KB in size, it's really lightweight.

Step 2: That's pretty much all there's to it. When installed, the TouchFreeze utility automatically starts and runs silently in the system tray. It constantly monitors the system for keyboard activity and the moment you start typing, automatically disables the touchpad of the laptop.

TouchFreeze doesn't require any additional configuration or tweaking on the user's part. It's also configured to run at system startup by default. However, this can be easily disabled via its context menu in the system tray.

Bonus Tip: The software applications included with the touchpad drivers of almost all modern laptops also include the option to disable the touchpad when the keyboard is being used. So you can use them as well.
