Bose QC35 Wireless Headphones Review: As good As It Gets

A decade ago in India the audio consumers were a little conservative when spending on a headphone or earphone. However, now we do see lot of users spending extra to get hold of a headphone that can provide them with that additional bit of performance for a better sound experience.

For those, Bose has been producing audio devices that give the consumer a bang for the buck (in terms of performance and looks). The latest, Bose QC35 (Quiet Comfort 35) wireless headphones are hot-off-the-press that are stunning to look at. We took these nifty headphones out for a (review) trip to find out what the ho-ha is all about.

Design

Like all Bose products, the company has taken extreme care when designing the Bose QC35 wireless headphones. These are built to perfection, with the silver and grey exteriors. We found the ear cups to be well padded along with the head band. The headphones sport a good mix of good plastics and metal all around, making the headphones quite sturdy.

The right ear cup sports the power button, which doubles up as the Bluetooth enabler. The MIC, volume keys along with the battery indicator and USB port for charging is also available here. The other ear cup has analogue port, which lets the user connect the audio cable to the headphones, in case one runs out of battery. As far as the overall built and design is concerned, we were quite happy with what we saw. Yes, they do look little similar to the previous generation, but still are desirable.

Performance

Now here is where all the magic happens. The setup procedure was very simple and one can connect the Bose QC35 wireless headphones with virtually any BT device. In our case we used our trusted Android smartphone phone. Bose also has developed a Bose Connect app to manage multiple connected devices and also features an auto-power down mode. With this mode users can put the Bose QC35 wireless headphones to sleep after the desired duration is set. The app is available on both iOS and Android.

As soon as you turn on these bad boys, they are out to massage your ear drums with the best rhythms. The bass was amazing and noise cancellation (as always) was top notch. Just flip the power button to turn on NC and the Bose QC35 wireless headphones will eliminate all the ambient noise.

We wore the headphones for a long time and heard various genres of music. This headphone gave us less to complain. They do seem bulky at first, but when worn they are very light and easy to get accustomed to. With the in-built MIC we were able to receive calls without any hiccups. The voice quality was very nice, however at times the person on the side could not hear us clearly (mostly when we were in an average mobile network area). The Bose QC35 wireless headphones work like any other mobile BT headset, only producing better sound.

Verdict

The battery of the Bose QC35 wireless headphones (after a full charge) lasted for 19 hours. This is one of the best that we have seen in the high-end category. Also, in the box, Bose supplies the consumer with a carry case, dual pin air plane adaptor, 3.5MM audio cable and USB charging cable. This can be used to charge the headphones with a regular USB charger or with a laptop/PC.

All in all, the Bose QC35 wireless headphones deliver what it promises. The high, mid and lows were very audible and as we said before the bass was great. As for the price, these good looking wireless headphones are available for Rs 29,363. This might look like a hefty sum to few, but the headphones well are worth the penny.
