Moto Z and Moto Z Force With Moto Mods Launched

Lenovo not only launched the world's first Google Tango-based handset , Phab 2 Pro but also the flagship Moto Z and the Moto Z Force at the Tech World Show keynote event. As expected, the Moto Z Force is more powerful out of the two as it has more battery capacity, better rear camera, and features a 2nd generation Shatter Shield display, the technology which was first seen with Moto X Force.

Although the company did not reveal the pricing of the metal-clad water-resistant devices, it said they will be hitting the shelves by September this year along with the Moto Mods.

The new Lenovo Moto mods are accessories that snap at the back of the two handsets magnetically. They connect with the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force via 16 magnetic pins placed at the back panel.

The Moto Z runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and features a 5.5-inch QHD display. Under-the-hood, the smartphone packs a powerful Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, clubbed with 4GB RAM and Adreno 530 GPU.

On the camera front, the Moto Z houses a 13MP rear camera with laser assisted autofocus, along with a 5MP front-facing shooter. As for the storage, the smartphone includes 32GB/64GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card up to 2TB. The Moto Z supports 4G LTE networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, GPS connectivity and is backed by a 2600 mAh battery. The handset battery supports TurboCharging technology as well.

Moto Z Force

As for Moto Z Force, the handset features all the same innards as the Moto Z except for a 21MP rear camera instead of 13MP and a better 3500 mAh battery life. The battery is rated to deliver up to 15 hours of use in just 15 minutes of charge wit Turbo Charge technology. As mentioned above, the handset also comes with the Shatter Shield display. While the Moto Z is 5.2mm thin, the Moto Z Force is 7mm thin. This also makes Moto Z one of the thinnest smartphones in the market.

It is worth mentioning that both the smartphones have this time ditched the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. One would probably have to use the USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter to listen music. Notably, the recently launched LeEco Le Max 2 and the Le 2 have also ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Lenovo not only did launch the flagship smartphones but also introduced Moto Mods. The Moto Mods are modular accessories for the Moto Z smartphones. Lenovo also introduced Style Mods, which are basically swappable back covers to customize the two handsets. Three Moto Mods namely the Moto InstaShare projector, the JBL SoundBoost, and the Moto PowerPack were shown at the event. The firm also introduced the Moto Mods developer programme.
