Appreciation Of Indian Music And Dance

The festival comprised two categories of events: semi-classical solo song and the Indian folk group song competition.

The zonal level of Swaranjali-2016, an Inter-DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Competition was hosted by Delhi Public School (DPS), Sushant Lok, Gurgaon under the aegis of DPS Society. As many as 21 schools from across Delhi-NCR participated in the event. V K Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society presided over the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest along with Vidya Shah, a notable composer and writer as the guest of honour. Dr Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society along with principals of various DPS schools were also present on the occasion.

Shubhendra Rao, renowned composer and Rashmi Malik, Director, Spic Macay constituted the eminent panel of judges for the solo song competition while the group song competition was adjudged by tabla expert Mithilesh Kumar Jha and multi-faceted composer, singer and actor Madan Gopal Singh. The function began with a welcome song and dance. School principal Sunita Nagpal welcomed all the dignitaries and felt honoured to host the prestigious event. The function culminated with the valedictory ceremony presided over by Pramod Grover, Treasurer, DPS Society and guest of honour Malini Awasthi, renowned Indian folk singer. DPS, Dwarka bagged the first position in solo song competition while DPS, Greater Noida emerged as the winner in group song competition.
