45 Schools Participate In IIHM Teacher Chef Competition
Top 60 teachers from different schools participated in the zonal semifinal round

Tejasvini Jadhav from The HDFC School, Hadapsar was the winner at the fourth edition of the International Institute of Hotel Management's Teacher Chef Competition held recently. The first runner up was Karishma Ghadiyar representing Vikhe Patil Memorial School Lohegaon, while the second runner up was Nishat Qamar from The Orbis School, Keshavnagar.
This year 45 schools across Pune participated in the preliminary rounds. The preliminary/ audition rounds were held at different schools that saw a whopping 1,200 participants. In the audition round, teachers were asked to carry one pre-cooked vegetarian/ non-vegetarian food item of their choice. Expert chefs from IIHM Pune were present to judge the audition rounds and teachers were shortlisted from various schools as per the set marking criteria of food presentation, taste and method of cooking.
Top 60 shortlisted teachers were then invited for the semifinal cook off round which was held in two batches at IIHM, Pune campus kitchen. In the semifinal round, the participants had to face the challenge of picking up ingredients from the open market provided and prepare a main course dish of choice. Top 10 participants were shortlisted from the semifinal round.
The final round took place at IIHM Pune's main kitchen on December 7 and the top 10 participants had to face a basket challenge where every participant was provided with two different baskets. 120 minutes was the allocated cooking time, where the participants had to prepare 1 starter/ soup, 1 main course which had to contain a protein component and lastly, had to prepare a dessert.
The panel of judges for the grand finale comprised Chef Ritesh Sen, corporate general manager, Food and Beverages, The Ferns Group; Chef Anirban Dasgupta, executive chef, Hyatt Regency Pune; Chef Subhajit Sadhukhan, executive chef, Hotel Hindustan International- Pune, Chef Narasinh Kamath, executive chef, Radisson Blu Kharadi and Chef Hoshang Debta, head of food production, IIHM Pune.
