Youth Reporter Kanishk met Dhoni

Captain Cool is what we all know our cricket legend, the one and only Mahendra Singh Dhoni as. But my happenstance with the star at the gym at the Jharkhand Cricket Club, Ranchi makes me coin many adjectives to this prodigy. Down-to-earth, rooted, helpful, humane are just some of the few words from a long list! Unpretentiousness is what makes him such a huge star. His cool and very normal interaction with fellow gym mates is inspiring as it is devoid of any so called ‘star attitude’.

From providing tips during workouts, to obliging fans with selfies and autographs  and having a slice of my birthday cake, the star did it all! You can run out of adjectives but you still can’t surmise the impact of Dhoni’s aura. A ‘Star’ in true sense!

My mum always says that Dhoni has placed Ranchi on the world map. Earlier during her travels when she was asked where she was from, the mention of Ranchi put question marks on faces, some even confusing Ranchi with Karachi. Dhoni has changed it all! Now at the mere mention of Ranchi, people are immediately reminded of Captain Dhoni. Such is his popularity.

The biopic of the star to be released this week will portray to the world the legend’s journey to success which is a combination of sheer hard work, staying grounded, being humane and to top it all, being normal inspite of being such a huge star.

Indeed, some life lessons learned from him during our sessions at the gym. We love you Captain Cool! You make us super proud! You are a huge inspiration!!
