Shubhangi Reviews: Wonder

“My name is August. I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.”
In 2012, a book moved hearts and approached the mindset of the people of all age. R.J. Palacio’s this masterpiece was called wonder and was applauded worldwide. Here is an overview of this wonderful book.

The plot
There would be nothing worse than having 3 surgeries per year till the age of 10. Well, August Pullman had to deal with such stuff. Born with facial deformity Auggie fights against all odds. Heads always turn wherever he goes and he has to endure people staring at him all the time. All this became normal for him until one day the home schooled August has to now go to the middle school.

The story follows his adventures in a new setting
In a completely new setting, Auggie has to establish a unique identity and to gain friendship rather than sympathy.

My Take:
The book has a touching effect and has the ability to change perspectives. In a world full of face value, the author has presented the value of heart. The story’s best part is it overview from different perspectives. It is humorous and well written and has made Auggie everyone’s sweetheart. I would recommend this book to everyone as it is a must read for the sensitization of the population.
So guys and grab your copies and get lost with August Pullman!

This book is truly a wonder. I just finished reading it a few days ago and it is undoubtedly one of the best books I''ve ever read. RJ Palacio has penned down the journey of young August Pullman with sheer sublimity. The story had a strong message to give. It is true that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but external beauty is not everything. A person is beautiful from within and that''s what counts, doesn''t it? I recommend everybody to read this book, especially children.

''Wonder'' is tear jerking and it will tug at your heartstrings. I will be able to relate to what I''ve read after watching the movie which is going to release soon.
