Shubhangi Reviews A Christie Classic

"For a moment we know the murderer, and the other we don't!"

This Agatha Christie novel is gift to the world. It is a marvelous piece of writing full of twists and turns. The plot doesn’t allow the reader to get bored or go off the track at any point. The author maintains the level of suspense in every sentence. The extraordinary use of language only adds to decorate the mystery.

The Plot: The story opens at Vicarage in London when Bobby finds a man who seems to have fallen off the cliff. In his last moments, the man says, “Why didn't they ask Evans?" his last words. Bobby's friend Lady Frances Derwent (lovingly called Frankie) is a member of the royal family of England. On hearing the story she suspects it to be a murder. Things take a turn for the worse when Bobby is poisoned though thankfully survives. Together, Bobby and Frankie try to identify the murderer while trying to know find out the identity of Evans.

My verdict: The story keeps the reader guessing and often makes one curious to find out what happens in the. It might prove to be a little hard for a first- time reader of Agatha Christie's but anyway the reader will begin to understand as he or she proceeds. The novel, "Why didn't they ask Evans" will entertain you greatly. So Happy Reading!
