Readers Going Back To Print

An outbreak of 'screen fatigue' is said to be driving sales of paper editions up, and pulling the plug on e-books in key markets around the world.
More and more people appear to have rediscovered these solid virtues of old-fashioned, printed and bound packets of information called books.

Bandwidths are becoming increasingly sluggish.

Signals are low or uneven at best, making for a patchy experience. Batteries never seem to be able to keep up with the needs of the gadget. There is a built-in obsolescence and, consequently, a perennial fear of future incompatibility and permanently losing the contents.

And to top it all, airlines and security agencies have become annoyingly nit-picking about gizmos.

There is clearly a need for an entertainment system that is immune to these banes of the modern, digital era: light, unbreakable, easily portable, with an unlimited "life", that is, it will not die on the owner at inopportune moments, and also carries a guarantee of permanent non-obsolescence. Something that will not need to be put separately into the scanners at airports or constantly traded up would be very useful too.

Funnily enough, that kind of entertainment system has been there for ages. Books.

Of course, the surge in their popularity could also simply be because books are the new arm candy. (*Book lovers, try not to laugh out loud on this one)

Q: Book nerds, tell us about a book that has more twists than a thriller movie.

I feel that ''The Dog''s Purpose'' has a more twists than a thriller movie.

Deepti hegde CLARENCE PUBLIC SCHOOL

E-books occupy less space compared to physical books and can be carried anywhere with a lot of content. Even though these E-Books are very handy devices, they do not give the reader the satisfaction that a physical book can give. they do not give the feeling of paper or the fresh smell and definitely not the relaxation that a book can give. I think this is the reason physical books are more popular than E-Books

maithri ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOLARUM

I feel that THE CHRISTMAS DOG is also a good book to read. We should read a book it can help in the future. A book also improve our speaking english.

Dan Brown''s ''The Lost Symbol'' is amazingly fascinating and engrosses the readers, it seems as if it just an incident that has happened and has been precisely written down to form the most thrilling book. Surely, grabbing this book is far better than watching those cliché thriller movies.

Yana Agarwal G.D GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL

Paperbacks or hardcover editions are better than E-books. As they say, they may lead to ''Screen Fatigue''. Batteries are one of the things needed. All these things apart, it''s a pleasure on its own to have a collection of books! I think that ''Lord Edgware Dies'' (Written by Agatha Christie) is one of the books that has more twists than a thriller movie.

Khushi Pandit VIDYA NIKETAN

The whole Harry Potter series is very thrilling. Each and every book has a twist. Reading these books is always better than watching those senseless thriller movies

Divergent! How can we forget divergent? Tris dying was one big shocker. Even Mortal Instruments and obviously Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. Also, Hunger Games.

Devika Singh DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GURGAON SEC45 D

I feel that the final book in the Harry Potter series "deathly hallows" had more twists and turns than what any movie could ever achieve. The Girl On The Train was also one of the most thrilling novels have I have read with innumerable reveals in it.

Devika Singh DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GURGAON SEC45 D

All three of Hunger Games series were also quite bewildering. Afterall, who would have anticipated an entire society of people living underground for 75 years ? Divergent definitely belongs in this category though I was unfortunate to get many spoilers in the start!
