Book Review: In the Name of God

Ravi Subramanian in his recent book, titled In the Name of God , has established a benchmark in the world of suspense thrillers.

Title: In the Name of God
Author: Ravi Subramanian
Genre: Thriller/Crime
Publication: Penguin Random House India
Price: 299 INR
Pages:288 (Paperback)

Knitting a fine web of fact and fiction with apt and creative imagination, he has brilliantly superimposed traditional knowledge and contemporary structure. The compelling narrative not only ensures a fast pace but also detailed attention on settings and mood descriptions seizing total attention, leaving the reader overwhelmed.

The book starts with multiple scenarios being narrated simultaneously. It carries all the narrations in a comprehensive manner to finally merge and emerge as one. Protagonist Kabir Khan on an investigation in Dubai sets off for Thiruvananthapuram with two murders following close. Struggling against superstitions, stereotypes and powerful criminals, there is too much going on behind the scenes. The strange murders, the robbery of a precious artefact, the falsification of identity, bomb blasts, betrayal, and theft are all the interlinked crimes he needs to solve but the most heinous one is to make it appear justifiable 'in the name of god'. Criminals behind the shade of faith can often be impervious to scrutiny that can unveil all their dirty secrets. Meeting one dead wall after another causes anguish but when many heads together pursue a question, the answer can't hide for long.

In the Name of God is unexpected twists, shocking revelations, and the gripping plot keep readers on the edge of their seat. The exemplary manner in which the book attempts to be realistic has laid bare the evils and prejudices that often blind the common man leading to massive irrational violence. A well-researched and authentic account, Ravi Subramanian's new book emerges triumphant.
