Using Facebook Helps In Living Longer, Claims A Study. Your Take

A new study says that using Facebook is associated with living longer as it serves to maintain and enhance an individual's real-world social ties. Do you agree?

I don’t agree that using Facebook helps us to live longer as it stresses our eyes, reduces our creativity and cuts us socially from the real world. Sometimes it may help us to get an artificial high but most of the time people waste hours skimming through unnecessary information, watching videos and reading and updating posts which cause harm to the mind.

Osheen Rajpal, class X, CDS-KR, Nagpur

I concur with the study. Facebook is a convenient way of keeping in touch with friends and family; one stays happy and consequently lives longer. However, there’s one condition – everyone in the friend list has to be an "actual friend". This will go a long way in reducing unwanted stress.

Onkarpreet, class X, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula

We know that a healthy diet and regular exercises help a person live longer. Also, the oldest people alive were not raised in times when having an account on social media like Facebook meant the world to them. Though it provides short-term joy when you see someone’s update it’s far-fetched to associate it with living longer.

DIWANSHI SHETIJA BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Facebook acts as a boon and a bane too.Its all up-to the user.Till some extent i can agree with the study but ultimately it distracts a person from his goals.

Onkarpreet Bhavan Vidyalaya

Everything is good, but only in limits.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

Not really , according to me it''s a place which kills your time .

Riya Pandey Childrens academy

Facebook, being a bond, helps a million of people to be in touch near and dear ones. But as far as the advancement of an individual is concerned then, it is merely of any use because it provides us a quick way to react harshly , rather than thinking and analyzing the situation of others. As a result we are depressed, stressed and upset. So there is no point of living longer and social development.

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

No, we cannot really say so since it has got innumerable disadvantages too and many people also certainly have a grave vehement against Facebook.

Haya Naved FATHER AGNEL SCHOOL(GAUTAM NAGAR)

Facebook is a great site for adults and old people since it helps them connect to friends which they actually cannot do since they do not have enough time. But at the same time it is a bane for students a I feel because even if we do not want we get so obsessed with facebook that eventually it leads to time mismanagement, disinterest in studies etc.

Rajashri Radjane Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School

Everything is good if used cleverly. It is good to connect with our family and friends. But it is time-sucking. We can use them but we should not spend time only in that. We should live in real world.

Hafsa Malwat F D SCHOOL

I think FACEBOOK is good and also not good. as we all know every things have advantage and disadvantage too. so If we use FACEBOOK in proper way it will be helpful for us.And all time if we use Facebook and not connected with real world it will be harmful for us.

Sharmeen Khan PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

Yes, but if only it is used in the correct way. It does help us to socialize with our friends and family, but nowadays it has become a means of killing time. And also, things such as hacking often result in the form of depression for the user.Howbeit, we live in the 21st century and the reality is we do enjoy facebook.

Sarath Kumar RM Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Definitely but only when we use it in a right way.

APARNA.V Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

If we use it limited it is good. This is also a waste of time.

INSHIRAH ZAHID SARASWATI VIDYALAYA(DARYAGANJ)

IF WE JUST WASTE OUR TIME USING FACEBOOK WHEN WE WILL GET TIME TO STUDY? MOREOVER MANY BACK SPINE DISORDERS ARE CAUSED BY SEATING FOR HOURS ON COMPUTER. IT AFFECTS OUR EYESIGHT ALSO. THOUGH IT IS GOOD TO INTERACT WITH FRIENDS IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO MIND THE LIMITS AND ALWAYS MAINTAIN PRIVACY TO REDUCE CYBER CRIMES

Trisha Tewari GREEN FIELDS SCHOOL(DILSHAD GARDEN)

I feel that facebook is a medium to remain connected to the whole world. it mitigates the pain of distances. but yes of course it does some harm to us and mainly nowadays gory is being spread through social networking sites. but it is never the inventions to be blamed for their misuse. it is our deeds that is turning these inventions to the path of animathetizes and animadversions.

Sarath Kumar RM Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Let the study be true. But any social media should not distract the minds of young generations which will not only harm oneself but also their surroundings.

kaviya.s Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Facebook is very useful. It gives us lot of information. But at a same time , it keep us away from real world. We have to use it upto a limit.

tanya QUEEN MARYS SCHOOL(TIS HAZARI)

i dont agree with this as using facebook makes us doubt our potential, skills and abilities. We get jealous and tend to lose our motivation in achieving our goals, and as a result we get depressed which affects our health and mind badly.

Abhishek Bhandari MAYUR PUBLIC SCHOOL(PATPATGANJ)

I agree that Facebook users live longer - no matter how many "likes" you get, according to a study of 12 million users of the social network. The research confirms what scientists have known for a long time about the offline world: people who have stronger social networks live longer.

I.Aryan VANA VANI MAT CHOOL

I don’t agree. Even if Facebook helps you live longer in some sort of a theory based on a study, it cuts you away from the social world and forces you to stay on it you’ll be an addict to it as hundreds of videos and articles get uploaded every minute. If this happens, you’ll strain your eyes and your brain and get frustrated. These changes are not needed to us humans, henceforth, according to my view, facebook does not help to live longer.

Dhruvi Moliya Hillwoods school

Every coin has two sides . To a extent using is good as we become stress free but as we flip the coin we find that it kills your time.

Vaishnavi S NAGARJUNA VIDYANIKETAN

Facebook has it''s own advantages and disadvantages. It depends on how a person uses it. I agree that it harms our eyes, but we should be careful enough not to go through it for hours together. Even if one gets tempted while studying, he/she should make up their minds to concentrate. After all, it helps us to keep in touch with people, and find about others whom you haven''t met for a long time.

Yasmin Tabbassum SHERWOOD CONVENT SCHOOL(D L F)

Precisely true, it helps us in being connected with the world and keep us vigil from all the current event taking places throughout the world. Its necessary to have friends for having a healthy mind. Moreover it makes us stay away from obsession that we face without friends. A social active student is more aware about the universe rather than a news watching student. In fact Facebook Tour is better then gossiping all the time.

Darshil Shah ST. XAVIERS - LOYOLLA -2 LOYOLLA 2

Facebook is a great place to socialize with your loved ones and be in touch with your relatives. But everything has a limit. It is not good to always hangout on Facebook and do not give attention to your near ones. According to me everyone should refrain from using Facebook as it will gradually addict you.

Vaishnavi Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan SVV Tirupati

Maybe...but then..I don''t think it is that good for students

Tarani GITANJALI DEVASHRAY

i dont think that Facebook helps in living longer in any way. because it gives a very bad effect on our eyes and also brings a distance between people. it does have and effect on a students life but distracting them from their academics. children these days also waste a lot of time on them. it prevents children form outdoor exercise with can later lead to obesity.

Himanshi Dhawan Saffron Public School

I do not agree with this study. Very often while using Facebook we get so engrossed in ourselves that we almost forget what''s going around. And so we forget to spend time with our parents and loved ones. If you don''t have time to spend with your parents and relatives, then what''s the point of building good social ties with others across the globe.

KAVYASRI R M Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

I disagree with this point.Healthy food habits and regular exercise can make a person live longer. But the lifespan cannot be compared with the time a person spends in facebook.

Raju kumar Sree Narayana Vidya Bhavan

Facebook is very useful. It gives us lot of information. If we use it limited it is good.

Brenda Marshal PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

According to me not.. Using social media for a logger time stresses our eyes.. It just gives our eyes pain..

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

I don''t know about living longer but it can certainly distract you.

Radhika Ghildiyal BGS National Public School

Well, Facebook can be of benefit. It is good to be in touch with your relatives, friends etc. But as it is said, too much of everything is harmful. Facebook usually is addicting and can be a waste of time. There are also other things to do other than just Facebook.

Vishakha Bhalla BOSCO SR.SEC.SCHOOL( PASCHIM VIHAR)

Facebook is just a medium to express yourself and connect with your friends and families, but i do not agree that it helps to increase our life span, we have to use such social-networking sites upto a limit.

B. Tulasitharini Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

Not really.

HIMANI KALRA BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

there is no harm in using facebook if one should use it in a correct way.

Rathi Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

yep it will kill our time and spoils our studies . so friend avoid it keep it in limit and everything has an limit.

Sonam Negi Kendriya Vidyalaya Tirumalagiri

i don''t think that facebook is a good thing for students. It distracts the mind of students from their studies. It simply waste our time.

Safina Khatri Canossa High School, Mahim

I think that Facebook can be considered as an advantage for all of us. it helps us to keep in touch with our friends and boosts our knowledge by some of its posts. but on the other hand, it also acts as a distraction, we start ignoring the real world because of which our relationships with our near and dear ones fall into trouble.but it is all up to us how we look at it and use it

Ananya MODERN ACADEMY(INDIRAPURAM)

I can understand that facebook helps us to connect with our friends and family but I don''t think that it has any connection with living longer

Kashish Goel Bal Bharati Public School

This is surely a rumour and nothing else.

EKNOOR BHATTI Bal Bharati Public School

not using it for hours and hours is just waste of time

Harshit SD AdarshVidyalaya

According to me every invention has its negative and positive phases. If we people use Facebook for a positive cause then definitely it would help us to live longer but some narrow minded people misuse it. For them Facebook is like poison.

Prakash.B Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Good facts..

Riya gupta MOUNT CARMEL SCHOOL(DWARKA)

Facebook surely bring people together and develops a comfortable forum of sharing your thoughts but limiting its influence in our lives is very important. Just wasting time and bragging or boosting about oneself can only cause complex and demotivation to some whereas inspiration to others.

Rishi Raj DPS Indirapuram

As of my concern I support the study. As we all know that happiness is the key to life and we all are happy when we are with our friends. Talking to our friends also keeps us happy and sharing our goods and bad happenings with them make our heart lighter and satisfied.

Emily Liz Gilbert CHAVARA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY

The study may or may not be true. Using any device for a long time time can strain our eyes and eventually will make you blind. So, using Facebook may not increase your life span. But it has its advantages as well, such as making new friends and helping you stay in touch with your family.

Harsh Dubey APS Academy

Everything is important but in a limit. I don''t agree with this statement because as we can see that in present time mostly students are engaged in facebook for chatting with friends and unknown persons. There is no fix time of chatting due to which they are mostly involved in it and they are not able to develop his or her mental strength infact they are loosing their eye power due to all these reasons facebook is not making our life living longer.

harshit kaushik RAINBOW PUBLIC SCHOOL(JANAKPURI)

Actually it''s like two sides of a coin.It depends upon the user in what sense one is using it.

Hemalatha.G Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary Scho

I don''t think so. It may depend upon the invidual. Social medias generally stress peple and has more I''ll effects.

Aikya Oruganti Epistemo Global - Vikas Leadership School
