Should Soldiers Not Use Social Media?

Army chief Bipin Rawat said that action will be taken against soldiers using social media to air grievances instead of going through the regular channels. Your views?

Recently a BSF military officer’s video went viral on social networking sites where he’d listed several grievances including insufficient meals provided to the forces. He was simply seeking help from concerned authorities. The soldiers should be given the right to voice their issues because they deserve better treatment than what is meted out to them.

Soldiers risk their lives and fight for the country. They must be given exemplary treatment. Due to red tapism, these soldiers don’t get justice. Social media attracts attention and will put pressure on the government. If the armed forces aren’t taking their issues seriously, such acts are justified.

Social media has become the postman and the message box for all issues. So why should the Army shy away from airing their grievances? It’s obvious that going through the regular channels hasn’t yielded any result, which is why the soldier had to resort to social media. Our soldiers need cooperation.

Social media is a link between people. Its a right guaranteed by our constitution to speak and express our feelings if its not causing any harm to the society . So according to me the statement made by army chief is against constitutional rights .

Soldier sacrifices their life in favour of his country. They are not at all fairly treated. The grievances like those we just have got to know are only through social media and not by channels. As this is creating a pressure on those officials who are against their brothers in the factor of food.so,this step should be appreciated and thus, soldiers should use social media to air grievances instead of going through the regular channels.

Media influences our minds in either right way or the wrong way. I think that army men should stay away from media atleast when they are on their duty and display their discipline (which they are appreciated for). So i think the anger of army officials is genuine.

Social media is for everyone. There''s no bar for a soldier. Especially in a democratic country, he is free to use them. No one has the right to restrict it. I think the army heads must be afraid, as any soldier may leak to the public, the tortures or disrespect faced by a soldier.

The government has no right to restrict the usage of social media by soldiers as the social media network is open and for all. The soldiers have full right of posting their grievances if their complain is not given importance to. Take the example of the soldier posting about bad and insufficient food. The food can be undoubtedly scarce during times of war but the quality of food should be taken care of at normal times such as this .Action should not be taken against such soldiers

soldiers should be allowed to use social media as it a right of anyone to use it they are just telling the truth that how soldiers are treated in the army and indian army is trying hide it in my opinion strict action should be taken toward the people who are trying to these videos as soldiers are the ones because of whom all indians sleep safely at night

Social media connects people. The ones who risk their lives have been given the least priority for their needs. We are living in a republic nation so everyone has a right to express their feelings.Soldiers should be given a healthy and a nutricious diet. The government has taken a wrong step by preventing soldiers to share their feelings and needs through social media
