Should Puppetry Be Taught In School?

Making a strong pitch for the inclusion of puppetry in the Indian school curriculum, renowned US educational puppeteer Carol Sterling says that such a move will improve the social, emotional, intellectual and creative skills of children. Your take?

Puppetry will be an amazing addition not only to our curriculum but also as a learning aid. Using an audio-visual or 3D aid brings an element of fun and interest to a classroom. Also, the use of puppets could help address serious issues like the caste system, girl child empowerment and others in a manner that will leave a lasting impact on young minds.

Inclusion of puppetry in the school curriculum will turn monotonous learning into a fun and interesting activity. It will foster creativity and be a great way to grab the attention of students. Also it will keep students engaged in the classroom and help them communicate better.

Puppets have proved to be a great educational tool to improve the emotional and intellectual skills of children with special needs. Similarly, it can work wonders if introduced in the regular curriculum as it will give wings to the creativity of students. Also, it will enable them to learn and understand concepts in a unique way.

Puppetry showcases our culture more than anything else. It belongs to India and we all must take pride in it. India is the root to the puppetry culture and extended its Branches across the world. Schools should make the student learn their culture more rather than just making it a liability to indian culture. If it belongs to us then its our responsibilty to practice and propagate it.

Day-by-day we are stepping forward to a new technology, but what about our culture we should preserve them by practicing it.I think that puppetry showcases will be great step towards our culture and a new way for learning having fun.but by doing so we should remember that it should not be burden for the students. The Indian government and school institutes should take an initiative.

A focus of interest among researchers and educators is to find teaching methods adjusted to developmental aspects in early childhood. Teaching that generates significant learning and creates motivation, interest and enjoyment in young children is a real challenge in contemporary education. The effectiveness of using puppets in early childhood has been demonstrated in clinical areas as having the potential to create communication, increase involvement and change attitudes.

I say why not? Puppetry is one of the most treasured cultures of our country. When taught in school, Puppet language will help teachers and children learn from one another, grow, relate openly, to be self-confident and self expressive.Puppetry can also be about daily issues and can effectively spread awareness among the citizens. Puppets call up to teachers and students something vital to a learning process struggling to rise above itself

Puppetry is like controling somebody else by us. This art form is being conducted in most of the theme parties. However it is vanishing in big cities due to stess. The concept of puppetry is to entertain somebody by laughter and background music. So if children could learn this, it would be amazing for them and their close ones.

Nowadays, majority of the students focuses in academics. There are a very few students who keeps a balance between both academics and co-curricular activities. They do not understand that these co-curricular activities are used to bring culture in them. So, puppetry should be introduced in schools so that children get the proper culture and get to know about the heritage of India.

In this Modern era we are just discovering new thing for enjoyment and forgetting old things. But actually that old things are better than a new one.

Like, After invention of Mobile......... books and puppets and Drama are getting forgotten. Actually Drama and puppets and others are better than Mobile. As it harm less to our self to environment and also to other creatures.

Puppetry is a non-economic activity. I personally feel that such activities need to be taught in school. And we''ll also be connected to our roots.

Puppetry is a nice way to express your thoughts. If one teaches a young mind to express your thoughts through puppetry, then he/she can express his/her beliefs in a creative manner. Also it can change one''s mindset. So it would be a nice move to include puppetry in Indian school curriculum.

It is not necessary that puppetry should be taught in schools, if they want they can teach it. They can even teach different sports like badminton, tennis, hockey, volley ball and many more games. They can even teach them different courses like Calligraphy writing and many more different and innovative courses which the students will enjoy in doing. They can even keep different periods for these hobbies like Art, Drawing, Physical Training. This will refresh the students mind.
