Should Leaders Choose A Heir Well In Advance?

As Chinamma and OP dispute gets messy, we hereby kick-start a debate to find out if this this Sasikala vs OP fiasco could have been avoided if Amma would have chosen her political heir while she was fighting fit.

It does not matter whether Sasikala has the support of most of the MLAs or not. What even does not matter is whether OP was forced to resign or did he do it for reasons best known to him. People of Tamil Nadu voted for Jayalalitha, and not either of the CM contestants. However, out of all this scene, the only learning is that political leaders should declare their heir while they are in full command of their life. Are you with us on that?
Do you think that the bigwigs of politics should declare their heir when the time is right? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

No,It is the choice of the people obviously because India is a democracy.People have the right to choose their representatives. If the dominators declare their heir, who might not be deserving, the people will fall in a problem.According to me,the leader should be elected.

THE APPOINTMENT OF SASIKALA AS CM IS NOT GOOD FOR THE STATE.CHOOSING HEIR IN ADVANCE IS THUS NOT GOOD FOR A DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY LIKE INDIA .LEADERS SHOULD BE ELECTED FOR PEOPLE''S SATISFACTION.

No. in a democratic country there is no space for such words.

I''d suggest that not an heir should be pre-chosen rather, there should be 2-3 people chosen as representatives for the election by the leader and the party by mutual consensus and the one who gains the maximum support of the people and becomes popular shall be the elected leader. This opinion is based on the idea of democracy and the rights that has been offered to the people as a citizen of a democratic nation.

It is good to choose the person in advance or the leaders must have a natural heir.leaders has to be elected by the people.

No,the leaders of a state or country shouldn''t be given the right to select their heir because, obviously India is a democratic country and people are given the right to select their leaders. If this doesn''t happen then this would resemble monarch ruling period. If the government declare their heir and this heir sometimes won''t be acceptable for the people. So, according to me,the leaders should be selected by the citizens of a particular state or country.

Declaring a heir is good only when the heir will contest elections. The need of a democracy is contestants for a by-election, not for continuing the post. Democracy means free elections and everyone must have the chance to win a position and not a heir, else it is no good than a monarchy.

Declaration of a heir prior to succession may lead to mass agitations. It is completely a party based decision and should be based on the majority of the party members. At times, there may be internal agitation and conflicts which may have malign effects on the present leader. I personally concur to the fact that heirs should not be chosen before hand.

Yes. I agree that Political leader must choose a heir for his/ her party when the time is right. When the leader dies, the heir must lead the party. This will ensure that the power goes into the hands of a worthy person. However, this does not mean that in circumstances like this, when the leaders die/ become incapable of leading the state, the heir is automatically given the former position of the leader. This would make the country Undemocratic. New elections should be held when this happens

S.Salwa Maharishi Vidya Mandir

In a democratic country people are allowed to elect and choose their representatives. Sasikala doesn''t even know how to handle anything and doesn''t have any experience of being a CM before. But OPS has the experience and therefore hired by Amma when she had gone to jail before. Finally,I would like to conclude that leaders should not involve in selecting the next CM of Tamil Nadu and people should be asked for hiring the next CM.
