Should India Propose Bilateral Talks With Pakistan?

Should India propose bilateral talks with Pakistan on the sidelines of the Heart of India summit?

Any conversation is going to fall on deaf ears if the country involved is Pakistan. The reason has been evident with regular attacks on the border. If anything can work it is international pressure which does seem a weak option, but a better one. Pakistan is not going to sit through amicable talks with India.

Bushra Suhail, class XII, Lucknow Public Collegiate

Like the earlier bilateral talks, this will also be a fruitless exercise if Pakistan continues to support state-sponsored terrorism as it has always done. Also with the new hawkish army chief at the helm, nothing will change for India. It’s a futile exercise to hope for anything.

Vidhi Khamele, class XI, Bhavan’s SKN, Nagpur

In light of the attacks in the past few months, India should stick to its current stand on Pakistan, which is isolation. The world needs to understand how Pakistan’s non-responsive attitude is resulting in the death of innocent Indians living on the border. Talks have been futile in the past.

Definitely, India has to take initiative to solve the problems in border through peaceful negotiations. But Pakistan has to realize it''s mistake. This can increase the friendly relationship between the nations.

Pakistan should think about the welfare of the people. Killing of people in the borders is arrogant behavior.

Aishwarya Iyer Deens Academy

Yes, its no use wasting time with them on bilateral talks. They turn a deaf ear always. As Rhea says, we need to focus on isolating them and not spread terror in India.

Will Narendra Modi succeed on his cancellation of 5000 and 1000 rupee old notes and bringing new notes along with 2000

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

No, this wouldn''t bring about much of a difference in our relations and specially after the recent Nargot attacks, where we lost 18 young soldiers of ours, it would be advisable to not mingle any further with Pakistan because we have to understand that they are truly reluctant to amend our bonds.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

India is a peace loving country and respects all the rules made in UN. So we should try to solve the issue peacefully. But this proposal for bilateral talk should be made in the presence of UN secretary general and all permanent members. This should be the last chance given to Pakistan to resolve the issue peacefully.

Sachika Lala BGS National Public School

Nothing will come out of these talks as this has been continually happening from a very long time. It will be no profit, but lots of time loss. India should remain to its own policies and views now.

Shankhanil Paul ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL DHAULA KUAN

India should give a last chance to Pakistan to solve the border related dispute. As they

Jammu and Kashmir, the heaven on Earth is an integral part of our country. By proposing bilateral talks with Pakistan, we''ll be playing with the emotional sentiments of the families of the martyrs as well as that of the people of Kashmir. And how hard we have tried in the past to reconcile the amicable relations between the two nations but Pak''s reluctance and traitorism has always obstructed this noble idea. So, in my opinion a big no.

Sneha Sehrawat J.M. INTERNATIONAL SCH00L

The lives of the people who have died cannot be restored to their family members. But, as a country we can assure that it does not happen with someone else. India (to assure no more kills) should have a bilateral talks with Pakistan. It will only give us the assurance that our no soldier is killed at the border. Something for god is never bad. We are fighting just for a piece of land. And how are we sure that Pakistan will not try to conquer the land again.

India Should not Propose Bilateral Talks With Pakistan.

Neha Deshkar MONTFORT

YES, INDIA SHOULD HAVE A BILATERAL TALK WITH PAKISTAN. BUT SOMEWHERE OR THE OTHER I FEEL THE TALK WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON PAKISTAN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT READY TO DISCOURAGE TERRORISM, SINCE THEY WANT TO SEEK REVENGE FROM US THEY WILL JUST CONSIDER THIS TALK AS A FORMALITY .

Haya Naved FATHER AGNEL SCHOOL(GAUTAM NAGAR)

I think India has taken several initiatives to talk to Pakistan but I feel that Pakistan is a country that overlooks every initiative taken by India and is never going to change. So I think there is no need to waste our time on someone who will never change.

Kashish Goel Bal Bharati Public School

No, India should not propose bilateral talks with Pakistan.

Siddharth Sharma D.A.V Public School, Thane

Undoubtedly bilateral talks are the only way to solve India and Pakistan problem. As war will further agitate the situation. But, I think that only levying allegations on each other is a argument and not a concrete solution. People and Media of Pakistan think that India is wrong and on the same lines we think Pakistan is wrong. So understand each other''s situations and then act accordingly.

Kashish Goel Bal Bharati Public School

India has been making a lot of efforts from a long time but everything has failed. Now it''s time to teach Pakistan in its own way.

Vihan R. Yalamanchili DDMS P.OBUL REDDY PUBLIC SCHOOL

India has tried again and again to normalize Indo-Pak ties through bilateral talks. However, Pakistan has been too stubborn to talk about any other topic other than Kashmir. It must realize and recognize that Kashmir is an integral part of India. It must also stop sponsoring terror across the border. Then we can think about having talks with Pakistan.

syed kashif NEW BALDWIN RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL

We must take help of UNO and put international .even the out sxide world should know how terror is pakistan . pakistan must think of the innocent people who stay arrond the boder''s districts. they donnot have any rights to kill any of the people wiothout any reason.thus india should declare a war on them if any further attacks of them. they will noy listen to us by talks or willstop terrorism ........,

India has shown enough mercy on Pakistan without any result. Its time that India isolates Pak and international influence is exerted on time same

I THINK INDIA SHOULD NOT SHOW ANY MERCY NOW ON PAKISTAN . NOW WE SHOULD FIND A SOLUTION TO GET RID OF PAKISTAN .PAKISTAN IS NOT A COUNTRY WITH WHOM PEACEFUL TALKS WORK WE WILL HAVE TO SHOW HARSHNESS.

they should give a last chance to pakistan

Raju kumar Sree Narayana Vidya Bhavan

50% yes and 50% no

Gopal Matcha Pragathi Central School

Yes, we must as India and Pakistan are neighbours and are very close geographically, we can''t just go on fighting but must have some talks which must encourage a dispute free Indo-Pak relation.

Harsh Dhiraj RAMJAS PUBLIC SCHOOL(PUSA ROAD)

One last time, but with the army standing on alert on the border .We can''t afford any more loss of innocent blood just because we are supporting peace .If we are doing it they should it too .We won''t stay quiet any more while someone kills people indiscriminately .

Harsh Dhiraj RAMJAS PUBLIC SCHOOL(PUSA ROAD)

NO.

Tanay sinha DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL (INDIRAPURAM)

In the evening PM Modi met Nawaz Sharif and the next day, it was Pathankot terror attack. It''s no use of talking to them because they always turn a deaf ear.

India should propose bilateral talks with Pakistan as it''s the only solution left. By declaring an attack on Pakistan border will not be intrinsic for both the nations and is not a solution either. It''ll be good for the citizens of both the nations by giving diplomacy a chance until the problem gets solved. Also, a better place where these bilateral talks should be proposed will be the general assembly of United Nations.

Though we could just give it a try, all talks with Pakistan are going to fall on deaf ears. Thousands of people die due to the violence caused by Pakistan, especiallly in Jammu and Kashmir. We want peace, not war.

Swaleha Ansari Padua High School , Mankhurd

We have to do bilateral talks but in the presence of UN. But UN is not taking interest in this matter because of China. As China is a permanent member of UN ,they had a Vito - power to not discusse any thing what they want. As China support Pakistan in their policies so they use their Vito - power. So, if UN is not taking interest in this matter, sobin that way doing a bilateral talks is waste of time.

Swaleha Ansari Padua High School , Mankhurd

India is a quite peaceful country the bilateral talks should happen in the presence of UN. But because of China, as it is a permanent country of UN, they had a Vito power to not discussed this matter as they support Pakistan in their policies . So UN will not enter in this matter. So doing bilateral talk is waste of time.

India should carry on with its policy of complete isolation. Several talks have been held with Pakistan that have reaped no benefits . India''s strong stand on Pak isolation will surely reap benefits in long term future.By proposing any bilateral talks , India will weaken its stand on global platform . that too at a time when several countries are supporting India''s stand.

Definately, India has to maintain bilateral relationship with Pakistan, as its important to keep cordial relationship with our neighbouring countries.India must be the bigger person and look at the long run rather than engaging in violent means , recuperating the dark period of the 1999 Kargil War between the two countries
