Should Criminal Cases Of Candidates Be Displayed?

Election commission has decided to display criminal cases of candidates outside the poll booth. Your take?

This decision will help voters to know more about candidates and analyse their potential and background more accurately. It will also ensure that they are not fooled by the candidate's words and actions and and are not influenced by the candidate or his party. I am happy with the Election Commission’s move.
Srijita Chakraborty, class IX, BDMI, Kolkata

It is a timely and corrective measure to weed out bad elements from politics, who are ruining the chances of worthy candidates in the elections. The voters will now feel empowered. It will help establish transparency and accountability in democracy.
Aditya Lote, class X, Somalwar School, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur

If implemented, it will help decriminalise politics in India. Voters will see candidates for who they are and make sound decisions instead of following anyone blindly. This will also reduce cases of using unfair means to intimidate voters. People with criminal records shouldn’t be given ticket at all!

This is a very good idea! When the criminal cases of the candidates are made public, it will help the voters in taking the right decision on who will form the government. Candidates can carefully analyse the options available to them and take the decision without any doubt! After all,When our country follows the principle of the "People''s rule", shouldn''t the citizens be given more ways by which they can elect their government?

Ambuja Rani Ryan International School

This is a really good move as it spreads awareness.

Emima Thangapandi PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

I agree with it.

Gaurang Raorane ASP Public School, Navi Mumbai

Yes it''s a really good idea as it is allowing the voters to know more about the candidate and how he is going to govern. I am happy with this decision and if it is implented it is definitely going to reduce corruption.

Himanshi Dhawan Saffron Public School

Yes, I strongly agree with it. Transparency in contesting elections is an important aspect of democracy. The adoption of such a law will truly justify the famous quote of Abrahim Lincoln - "Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people".

Pranav Madhyastha PRESIDENCY SCHOOLNLO

This is a good initiative! This will help the voters know more about the candidate''s background and history and also will improve political transparency in India. Indian governments will finally become ''for the people, by the people and of the people,''

Nice-Idea,We should make thier cases public. So that they would analyse the candidate character and they would vote to right person from all.But I think in some areas it wouldn''t work as candidate ''s are distributing Money,Food''s to people before 24-hour''s of election. Our Government should take action on such thing''s???

Right move by the election commission. Will help people to make right choice while casting their votes. This will also force the candidates to keep themselves away from crimes and nuisance to the society.

EKNOOR BHATTI Bal Bharati Public School

yes, i agree

RIYA MITTAL Convent of Jesus and Mary

This is definitely a wise move as it will make the citizens aware about whom they are voting. It will remove the shield candidates wear by making big promises which hides their criminal identity and the citizens will be able to make the right choice.

Making the criminal activities of the candidates public is a very good idea for several reasons. The voters will be able to make a better decision on who will form the government, take major decisions and form policies which will guide the government and law making. Transparent elections will lead to a better government. The criminal records gives us an insight of the character and moral values of the candidate. It allows the people to take a reasoned decision.
