Riya Pandey: Should Cricket Be The National Sport Of India?

Even though hockey is the national sport of India, for decades now, people have shown more interest in crickets. Hockey hardly has the kind of legends that cricket has managed to produce in the recent past. The last Hockey legends I remember are Dhanraj Pillay and Major Dhyan Chand.

According to my opinion and the popular belief, more children are interested in cricket and its future looks secure. Then should it not be made the nation's priority.

Ah! nice question Riya. I also agree with your views the success that we have earned in Cricket and the honours that we have received all reflect to the same message that we are best at Cricket and it should be our national game. Every street child knows how to play cricket, to echo the voice of the sporting nation India our national sport should be definitely cricket.

Trimanpreet Singh Chawla GOODLEY PUBLIC SCHOOL(SHALIMAR BAGH

Yes, it must be. As more than of of people in our country prefer to watch cricket than any other sport. Cricket has become most successful sport in past few years.

soham misra Cambridge School, Kandivali (E)

Declaring cricket as National Sport Of India won''t be a good move. India has been giving cricket more importance is write but even we should agree this also that if just by seeing much enthusiasm in Cricket if we change our national sports then United States that has won maximum medals in Rio Olympics then why don''t they change baseball from national sports because a country can only win in any sports if they have passion in it and at last every sport has its own importance

Khushi Sharma BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Firstly, hockey isn''t the national sport. We don''t have any national sport/game for India. Secondly, terming cricket as the national sport would be amazing. It''s not just a sport it''s a religion. People are crazy over cricket and I being a die-hard cricket fan would be highly elated with this decision.

YES THE CRICKET SHOULD BE THE NATIONAL SORT OF INDIA, BUT THE OTHER SORTS SHOULD ALSO GET TROVE.

SANYA KHURANA DAV PUBLIC SCH SEC-49 GUGAON

I THINK THAT CRICKET SHOULD BE OUR NATIONAL GAME.PEOPLE SHOW INTEREST IN THIS GAME.EVEN CHILDREN LOVE THIS GAME.

Vishakha Bhalla BOSCO SR.SEC.SCHOOL( PASCHIM VIHAR)

Just because India is crazy after cricket ,, we should not make this sport as a national sport of India. Rather we should encourage the children and youth in some of the under-rated sports as one of them is hockey..According to me a little importance should be given to other sports also.

It''s all about money, sponsorship, fame , name etc . If other games were also given equal prize money , name and fame , other games also might have reached the same height where cricket have reached now.

No - As per my opinion Cricket should not be made our national sport though many off us like cricket because of the wide publicity and sponsors for the game. In the same way all the sports should be encourged especially Hockey our national sport.

saishalini Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Cricket should not be the national sport of India because people start to admire cricket and does not support other important sports like hockey , tennis and many to say. So lets join to encourage all kind of sports of India which would naturally kindle the talents around.

Making Cricket the national sports would actually sideline all the other games and moreover there are things which don''t need to be said , India is a cricket crazy nation so I think cricket is the national sports unofficially.

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

I veraciously acceed to this fact that although hockey is India''s national sport, always it is cricket which has been more preferred and enjoyed. This can be probably because we have always craved for international stuff be it goods, customs, traditions or even sports and have barely admired our own culture and heritage. Thus, the government must take measures that can help enlargen the spread of hockey also

SWASTIK AGGARWAL SACHDEVA PUBLIC SCHOOL(PITAMPURA)

t grabs the attention of adults and children alike. Cricket has brought name and fame to the nation, while the hockey legends are not as impressive. Therefore cricket should be the national sports of India.

Brenda Marshal PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

Yes I think that cricket should be the national game of India because Indians prefer cricket more to watch than any other sport game including me. I myself love to watch cricket than any other game......

Tanisha vaishampayan dps ghaziabad vasundhara

Though hockey is our national sport of India but I prefer that the national sport of India should be cricket. There are no achievements as such in hockey, as compared to the great victories in the field of cricket. There are not much preferences even among the school children for hockey. Being a cricket lover, I too prefer that cricket should be the national sport of India.

Darshil Shah ST. XAVIERS - LOYOLLA -2 LOYOLLA 2

The most popular game in India is cricket only. People have more interest in cricket than hockey. So cricket should be made the national game of India.

soundarya s Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Making cricket The National Sport of India would make Hockey miserable as cricket is always given the top priority. We''ve failed to enrich our national sport which is a quite sad yet the truth.

Haya Naved FATHER AGNEL SCHOOL(GAUTAM NAGAR)

People say that India hasn''t achieved anything in hockey but it isn''t so, India got eight gold medals at the Olympics alone in hockey. The Indian government promotes cricket more than the national game. Hockey isn''t promoted much. Cricket is not played worldwide, only a few countries play cricket but hockey is a sport played worldwide. And if you think cricket is such a good game then why isn''t it a part of Olympics? Please ponder and don''t think so about your national game.

T.BLESSIYA BEAUTY Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

that will be a nice move.each 7 every citizen has a passion for cricket.they love cricket.so, cricket can be made as a national sport.

Simar Sangla MODERN SCHOOL(VASANT VIHAR)

The success India has earned in Cricket is more than Hocke .definitely Cricket should be the national sport of India. We have IPL which belongs only to Cricket not Hockey. I am a proud citizen of the country and I believe Cricket should be India''s national sport.

KAVYASRI R M Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Yes,I too had the same question in my mind.It is very common that people show more interest towards cricket thsn to other sports. This is not encouragable. My view is that we should support and improve other sports also.Making cricket a nation sport can be taken into consideration

K.Kaamya SENTIA GLOBAL SCHOOL

Never..and I dont agree with this. All of this is just a result of unawareness......not a good move. Just because people show more priority to cricket doesn''t mean you are gonna change the history forever - conservative

Pragadeesh Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School - Puducherry

cricket has covered the more than half of Indians to look on its side..India giving the best performance among other nations..on making cricket has the national game ,BCCI gets a special respect by indians...It is a great idea..
