Nishi Upadhyay: How To Include Transgenders In Mainstream?

All of us are born with an identity. We have a name given by our parents, a surname given by our family and respect given by the society.  We live with the people, surrounded by boisterous crowd and enjoy the fellowship of our family.
Just close your eyes and imagine yourself being ostracized by the society, and a situation where all you are to people is a societal stigma and the butt of jokes.  Perhaps, it’s too hard to imagine, it’s hard for us to even think, but what about the ones whose lives are confined to the boundaries of isolation and whenever they are seen by the people their eyes are filled with disrespect.  They are simply a different creation of god and most importantly, they are human beings.

Why can't we just accept transgender with respect? What are your thoughts on it? How can we include transgenders in mainstream society?

Transgenders don''t get the status like any other male/female in the society. The need of the hour is not to distinguish and divide the community on the basis of physical appearances.

Darshil Shah ST. XAVIERS - LOYOLLA -2 LOYOLLA 2

Transgenders should be given the same facilities as it is given to the other gender in our society. Obviously some narrow-minded people will surely raise voice against this reform but awareness should be spread and people should understand that every person is equal.

DIWANSHI SHETIJA BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Foremost step one should take is to stop judging the persons on the basis of their physical looks rather they should be scanned on the basis of their talents and capabilities.

These is because we don''t have a healthy attitude towards them, it is just about mindset. We must accept that there is nothing wrong if someone belongs to transgender community.Till the day it remains a taboo and would be seen as disgrace, we wont be able to include them in mainstream society.

MEGHA BANSAL RAINBOW ENGLISH SCHOOL (JANAKPURI)

I don''t know about the world but in India people are just hiding their unreasonable mind setup and words behind the blanket of ''what our predecessors taught us'' but let me tell them that in ancient and medieval India they were considered to be purest with due respect and acceptance in the society and above all good omen.

Abhijit Das Sumermal Jain Public School

When we refer somebody like Albert Einstein we refer him as a ''brilliant MIND'' and not a ''brilliant FACE'' and so we should provide them equal opportunities so that they do not get scared in the society.

Radhika Ghildiyal BGS National Public School

The only way to include transgenders in the mainstream is to first improve our mentality or thinking towards transgenders. They are also humans. They feel, see, hear, eat, are made by God, just like us. It is just that they are a little different, that''s all. By ignoring them or not giving them importance makes them feel isolated and will only make the matter worse. That is why they are seen mostly on roads. So, we should get rid of this thinking and give them equal importance.

sudharshan.ak CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL DEVASANDRA K R P

Transgenders has to accepted by the society because they are also normal human being s like us they may look different from us but they are more talented than us government or someone should give one chance to them to prove themselves because we appreciate their talent and creativity in them not to judge or disagree for their appearance. Let it be male/female / transgenders everybody should get equal opportunity to prove themselves no body can judge a book by his cover

Disha Ray APEEJAY SCHOOL (PITAM PURA)

Though, adding a third category in the ''gender'' column does make a difference but it cannot change the perspective of thousands and thousands of people. We have a long fight ahead of us for making our society inclusive. First, we have to sow the seeds of acceptance in order to get the fruits of respect.

Linet Christina Thomas Ryan International School Nallasopara

Tansgenders have been discriminated against in jobs, housing, education and health care. They are routinely turned away from hospitals. hijras are usually forced to leave the family home. Yet the society they must take refuge in is equally as unwelcoming. They have few rights and are not recognised by Indian law. This denies them the right to vote, the right to own property, the right to marry and the right to claim formal identity through any official documents.

Linet Christina Thomas Ryan International School Nallasopara

Scientifically transgender means Gender Identity Disorder or hormonal imbalance in a person. so Why to blame these people? It seems that every transgender in India has her own story to tell. Although they are barred from legally marry or go to school, they are now recognized as the third gender in all the government papers and official documents.

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

I would say that transgenders are nothing so unusual and are certainly not people to be glared at. They are merely a little different people with a set of varied characteristics and a little different appearance and features, but what matters is their mental and emotional blue-print which is also humane and emotions-flooded just as in all of the others, and only because of their slight difference we shouldn''t discriminate them because they are yet another kind of us.

R.Rithika Reddy JOHNSON GRAMMAR HIGH SCHOOL, ICSE

Transgenders should be provided with government facilities and support and should be respected as they are also humans

Jonah Abraham St.Claret School

Of course we should respect them in the society. I think the different organizations in our world or in our country should allow them to participate in the major activities like sports, cultural programs or religious programs. They should be considered in the same equality and not separate from these activities

Aayushi Patney BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

The need of the hour is to give rights to transgenders.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

In today''s world of equality, why there should be column for gender? Consider all as humans .

Riya Pandey Childrens academy

It is absolutely wrong that we treat transgenders as untouchables. They are also the creation of god and so must be treated with respect as other beings. We can and we should try to inculcate them with us by treating them equally and generously.

Sharmeen Khan PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

Transgender are regarded as different and have become a subject of joke. In comedy shows, there are men playing the roles of women, and are loved by all for their humour. But what is it that makes us sum up these men as funny? Their humor or their appearance? Its high time we change our mentality towards someone who is trying to be themselves in a world that is equally theirs as much as it is ours.

Sajal Jain BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Everywhere it can be seen everywhere that there are just two options in the sex column: male or female. Why is this so? They also have equal rights as any other male or female person. We should accept them as a part of the mainstream society and open up opportunities for them. They shouldn''t be left aloof along with disrespect.
