Merging Railway Budget With The General Will Help Railway Sector, Says Harini. Your Take

Ending the 92-year-old practice of separate budgets, the government has merged the rail budget with the general budget. Is this a good move?

There should be a systematic way of doing things. The government cannot merge the two budgets to cover up its weak points. Being a student, I don't know how much this move is going to impact the common man, but I only hope that the government keeps its workings transparent and open to scrutiny.

This move will benefit the railways. By merging the two budgets, capital expenditure for railways can be increased and used to enhance the efficiency of rail transport in India.

Merging the two will help the ministry direct its funds to improving the condition of the trains instead of spending it on framing an elaborate budget. Since a separate discussion on the railways will also be held in Parliament, they are not going to lose out on anything.

No, merging the two won''t be a wise decision. Some things are ought to be professional and systematic, merging the two will only create a mess.

Yes merging the two will prove as an initiative for further development. Budgets were separate when India did not had a proper rail infrastructure and had to invest a major portion of budget for it. But after so many years now we are the second largest in rail infrastructures. Now there is no need to have separate budgets. Even this step will help the government to end up the mess and focus more on other Indian interest instead of only railways.

it would affect or not, we student might not know but at least we can figure out that it will certainly reduce the debate on the railway budget and budget as a whole. And from this in maximum 14 days both budget could be passed from the Rajya sabha.

Merging of railway to union budget will help the parliament to say the budget as a single budget. But this will not improve railway in deep. The reason that railway budget is kept separately because the railway is a large network and the discussion about its improvement should be done separately.

I think that this is good because then the government would not have to pay for the security and travelling of the ME A''S twice and this will also help in the increase of economy.

Efficiency is the most important thing we need to look at, and if that is fulfilled, merging the budgets is a must.

Merging railway and union budgets will result in the inefficiency of the budgets as they require different attentions.

Truly a right decision by the Government. Just organising the session alone costs almost 28 crore rupees. Earlier in the 40''s, it was the same. Both the railway budget and general budget were combined. This move would save a lot of money and could be used for the betterment of our nation and its citizens. Salute the Government for the decision!!!

Merging the two budgets wouldn''t be good. It would just muck up the things.
