Manesh Makes A Valid Point On US Olympic Performance

President Barack Obama has linked America’s Olympic prowess to the country's racial and ethnic diversity.  “We have people of all different types for every sport, so we have really tall people to play basketball or to swim, we have little people for gymnastics,” he said. Do you agree?

In my opinion, the factor that governed USA’s success wasn’t the ethnic diversity; it was the acceptance of the masses that being an athlete isn’t a derogatory profession. Once this social taboo is broken and stereotypical thoughts are ignored, the margin of incompetency and non-performance will significantly reduce between all countries.

A country's prowess always depends on its people. This means, you can draw the best from one and all.  Imagine drawing inspiration from every individual for different purposes! Forget a country, the world would progress in itself if that was possible.

Rather than diversity, I think it’s because of the facilities and better quality of training equipment that the Americans have for their successes. Even other nations have talented people, but not all of them have access to good training facilities; the lack of exposure deprives them of potential opportunities.

Having multi talented people is a blessing for every country, it''s a asset . Encouragement and providing necessary facilities for building up the talent from the government side is also equally important. Finding a talented one and giving opportunity to polish the talent is two sides of the same coin. Both are equally important.

America''s success in olympics is not just because of the racial and ethnic diversity of the country instead better infrastructural facilities, supportive backgrounds and prolonged trainings have resulted in the achievements too.

USA is good at Olympics because of the determination and dedication of the players. Infrastructure, ethic diversity are superficial qualities and a player''s willingness and hard work can overcome that .

Meghna dutta Auxilium convent

I, to be very candid ,think that USA ''s ethnic diversity has nothing to do with her medal rush in the Olympics but the secret lies in her economic development without which it would be futile to have diversity or ethnicity as only when players get the best of infrastructure do they flourish ,their talents grow and they become the best of the best..

The facilities provided to the sportsperson matter much more than the diversity of us . Encouragement and support from the country is another secret for success.

U.S tops Olympics as they give room for talented people without any discrimination. The players are also really talented and determined to get the medals. Their hard work ,good infrastructure and better trainers are the backbone for their success.

Ethnicity does matter for athletics as countries like Kenya who don''t have good infrastructure have won more medals than India in track and field events. But for other sports we need good infrastructure to pereform well

U.S.A is a good country at Olympics due to the facilities that the U.S government give to the athletes. They have a very good collection of different training equipment and moreover the public of U.S.A support their athletes. They encourage their athletes to perform their best and due to which the U.S.A is a very good country at Olympics.

USA stood out to be the best at the olympics as there are no ethnic or religious or social lines that discriminate the people from pursuing a game as their career. In India, on the other hand taking up sports as a career is taking as a matter of shame for the family as they give priority to other professions.

America has better facilities and coaches. Due to this reason, America wins many medals at the Olympics every year. But what about India? We have talent, we have coaches, but so we give much attention to the ones living in slums? Even they may be able to run very fast, swim very well etc. If we provide a chance to these people, India will surely win many medals at the Olympics.

Ethnic diversity is not the only reason behind America''s olympic success but the fact that there are better opportunities for sportsmen.
