JIYA TOMAR: Is Demonitisation A Selfish Step?

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that 500 and 1000 rupee notes would be withdrawn from circulation to crack down rampant corruption, abiding to the promise that the had made in 2014 when his party came into power.
As per a Washington-based think-tank Global Financial Integrity nearly $344 billion in illicit fund outflows had been lost by India between 2002-2014. Modi also said that along with finding out about terrorists' masterminds, we need to also focus on how they fund themselves and run operations using fake currency notes, and this is pivotally the reason for this new step. However, a few labourers also said that it isn't a very good step for business and claimed that Modi hasn't thought about people like them and this person was a taxi driver named Anu Choudhary.
So, is this really a selfish step as said by her/him or is it actually a wonderful step by the PM? Register to post you comments

Obviously it''s an amazing step by our honorable P.M. This step will erase black money from our country.

No! There is no doubt about the step taken by our Prime Minister. Of course it will destroy the black parallel economy which was till now eating away our economic structure. However, I think that there is no need to get too euphoric about the move only time will reveal whether it is as effective as it is being said but this is not a selfish move why will it have any selfish motives? This is a strong decisive step which we should support by spreading the positive message of its effects.

I think that there is no need to create panic about the move taken by PM because ultimately it is going to bring the economic prosperity to poor and Middle class. We have seen that around 3 lakh crore rupees have come in banking structure in just a few days so we can very well imagine the positive effects of this step. But still political parties aren''t stopping from their petty politics game which is resulting in a havoc.

Its a wonderful step by our PM. Every good things come with little pain . Sacrifice for the sake of having a better tomorrow .

The Prime Minister definitely made a very wonderful and statesman-like move. It will reduce the usage of black money and crank down upon corrupt people who don''t pay taxes on their hoarded wealth.

In my opinion, this step is truly a masterpiece since it removes black money from the system and we also get to know which people are corrupt. Oh yes, there will surely be some chaos for a few days, but in the end this decision will become an important building block on India''s road to a corruption-free country.

No,never! It ''s an excellent step by our P.M.How did he think such an excellent way for the stop of black money

Yashas M Salian ST MARY''S CONVENT & PUB SCH

It isn''t a selfish step. Well, HOW can it be one? It is clearly directed towards the well being of the common man. But it is a known fact that one must LOSE something in order to GAIN something. Hence, we have to suffer a bit, sadly.

Madhav Chadha BHAVAN VIDYALAYA

Its not a selfish step, in all true sense. This masterstroke was planned months ago by the fine economists with expertise the subject. There are a number of reakn behind this. Primarily - control over black money and illegal printing across international borders. Looking with a long term perspective, all we''ll see is the benefits. A cleaner, more transparent India. Its just a fact of 2-3 weeks, but we''ll have to bear withthe chaos for the greater good of the nation.

Sachika Lala BGS National Public School

It is not at all a selfish step. From the day when PM, Narendra Modi, made this announcement, haven''t things become calmer in Kashmir? No stone pelting, no violence and finally, no terrorism. We all should support this initiative. No matter how much we are inconvenienced at the moment, in the end it will lead to a big change. To gain something, we need to lose something.

soundarya s Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

No this is absolutely not a selfish step as we Indians lose our soul through judgementing the people who at least keep a foot forward towards a glorious future.

The step taken by our PM isn''t a selfish step.It is for the welfare of the people. The people who have dirty cash will be panicking and others will be agreeing towards him.

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

This is no selfish move but a move that will benefit the whole country and a step that we have been waiting for so long.

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

Exactly, I wonder why these common workers are cribbing about this dynamic and effective step initiated by the Modi govt., this can perhaps be because they merely want to create panic amongst fellow citizens. After all, if we do really want our nation to be Corruption- free, measures have to be taken that require our support, trust and moreover cooperation.

HIMANI KALRA BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

I think we should respect the decision taken by our prime minister as it will help in removing corruption , black money from the country . People should respect his decision.

Rathi Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

no it is not a selfish step taken by pm this will only affect the person who has black money

Shankhanil Paul ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL DHAULA KUAN

No it was not a selfish step taken by the government. What will the government earn out of it ? I don''t think so
