Jiya Tomar: Can A Nation Full Of Cowards Develop?

Every time I read about an acid attack, I wonder, what has happened to us. And it’s not just about acid attacks; every other form of crime is gaining grounds. Crime against women is on a rise not just in India, but across the world.
What’s hurts even more is that the crimes are committed in full day light, and no one does anything to stop them even though images and videos of the scenes are shot. Just recently, a girl was stabbed multiple times in Delhi, there were so many people around, they could have saved the girl on time, or caught the culprit, but all they did was — escape.

Can a country develop with such selfish people?

Yes, I am optimistic regarding this thing. For instance - India. Our country is full of corrupt people, cyber-criminals, terrorists, drug-addicts, acid-attackers and many more, but still we are progressing. Today, we are one of the fastest growing countries of the world. The reason are the good people living here. Despite the predominance of war, hatred, jealously, rivalry etc. still our country is not completely stripped off all the nobility. It still highlights the goodness of human heart.

Vishnu Varthan J Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Well You have picked the great topic. To develop a country we need a good leader for the ruling, and of course, rulers should be good by nature, attitude, and have sincerity for country''s development. The selfish people are useless for the country''s development and moreover they will not have a mind to develop the country.

V.A.Tanmai PBDAV MODEL SCHOOL

Unity is strength.. if the people get united and fight against the terrorism then no crimes will run in our country.

Bhavana Jaison Atomic Energy Central School No 2

No country can survive with cowards . Its our duty to make the country free from all its drawbacks and light the lamp of hope and faith in the minds of young new generation .

Khushi Sharma PRESENTATION CONVENT(RED FORT)

Since childhood we, along with our parents, have been hearing this - "India is DevelopING." The only reason behind this is corruption. I do agree with Jiya. The selfishness of people has always acted as a constraint in the development of our country. India will never be called a developed country if corruption and greediness are not rooted out.

saishalini Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

No. A country cannot be developed with selfish people who try to gain their power in their own country by degrading their own members without a sense that they are their country people and pull down the country''s name.

soham misra Cambridge School, Kandivali (E)

India is a developing country as we all know and one of the fastest developing country more precisely. We are filled with corrupt, rapist and theif but between all this also there are some good people who are working for progress of our country they should not be ignored . One man working for betterment of our country can make a difference and one one man working together againt the evil is the key for progress of our country. So i don''t agree with Jiya Tomar''s statement.

Pragyamita Basu B.D.M. International

Our country India is a country full of corruption. Here people''s hearts are contaminated and as a result the ultimate sufferers are we- the young generation. Not only this, we call our country as Mother India - ''Bharat Mata'' but do we really respect our mothers, sisters and all other women around us in our society? Our country is blessed with resources just clean hearts can pull India to it''s epitome of success.

Mansi Borade PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

According to me if we need to improve ourselves then we can improve our surrounding and nation too.

ritika sharma CARMEL CONVENT SCH SEC 9 CHD

I totally support this idea as coward people are just a liability for the nation. But there is no point playing a blame-game. All we need to do is turn out to be somebody who can bring a new change and show the world a new sunshine.

Khushi Sharma BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

Obviously not! No country can foster growth if it''s society comprises of self centred people. We need to raise our voice against such crimes if we desire to live with harmony and want to see our nation succeeding on the path of progress.

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

NO,absolutely not . This country can not develop until we have cowards in our crowd. If we really want to see our country develop we got to be strong enough to raise our voice.

Riya Pandey Childrens academy

Any country in the world cannot progress with the people who always think of their benefit. If development is to be achieved in real terms then we must realize that it is only possible if we start thinking out of the box. We should remember that whatever is happening with others can also happen with us some day or the other.

SHUBHAM BANSAL RYAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

yes, people don''t like to involve in these activities. they are afraid. but not only the public, the major problem is our corrupt government. police is not active.they are bribed by rich people. and the people who do these these things like acid attacks, kidnaps, harassment e.t.c. girls in afraid are doing suicides. if these things stop in our country, India would be one of the world top countries of the world in all aspects like technology, education, social, economical e.t.c.

Darshil Shah ST. XAVIERS - LOYOLLA -2 LOYOLLA 2

In India people only raise voice but no one has courage to stand up against crimes and take some serious actions. India has to develop in these matters. You have raised a good question and I surely support you.

Sanjana Mehta G.D. GOENAKA PASCHIM VIHAR

While saving ourself is the first thought that comes to our mind when we are part of a crime scene, it is important to show compassion to those affected by the crime. It is important to know that tomorrow you or someone you love could be in the victim''s situation. So before fleeing from the scene, lend a hand to the victims, do your share of humanity. The main idea of life itself is existence before development, and life cannot exist without compassion for other beings.

Sharmeen Khan PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

No can country can survive with its own children killing it.Today, India is nowhere less than any other country. And yet we are bereft of ourselves. We are unknown to humanity,to the unity that was the hallmark of our country.Today everything that we have achieved is due to someone and not due to us.We are cozy in our homes enjoying the imagination that we are progressed. But we are not,we are unaware to fellow feeling,to generosity,to tolerance. We need to feel responsible for our country.

Khushi Sharma BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

The step initiated is commendable. For a better jurisdiction it is essential to have a society with a sound literacy level and politicians being the representatives of the entire society should be educated as well as seasoned.

Riya Pandey Childrens academy

No, Never.....

A.Shajitha Fathima Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

No it''s not true that are brave, but their shyness and fear hide the bravery. When they come out of it, definitely the nation develops.

Brenda Marshal PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

No, a country full of coward''s can''t be developed. In every country their should be citizens who have a lot of courage and strength to face problems, trials and tribulations. In short a country full of coward''s can''t be developed......

Brenda Marshal PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

If we whole heartedly try to change ourselves then we can even change our country and the surroundings...... All we need is hope, faith, belief and confidence in ourselves.....

Radhika Ghildiyal BGS National Public School

I completely agree with you Jiya. Our country has literally crossed all it''s limits. No matter why is it called a developing country. We still have many many areas to improve in which is going to take a very long time.

Disha Ray APEEJAY SCHOOL (PITAM PURA)

Obviously, a country with such people cannot develop. Therefore our main question should how can we end this saga of selfishness among the people and move towards becoming a better society.
