Is The Controversy Around Taj Mahal Meaningless?

In the past few weeks, the most epic representation of Indian tourism, Taj Mahal, has become the center of political controversy. While some think that the arguments being made are important, others feel that the controversy around the monument is just serving the political motives of politicians. We want to know your views.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said today that regardless of who built it, the Taj Mahal was a historical monument and its protection was the responsibility of the Uttar Pradesh government. He announced that he would be visiting Agra next week to review tourism schemes.

The chief minister's comments come a day after his colleague, BJP MLA Sangeet Som, questioned the Taj Mahal's place in India's heritage and said history would be rewritten to erase Mughal emperors from it.

"It is immaterial as to who and how the Taj Mahal was built... It was made by the sons of Bharat Mata... ," the chief minister said in Gorakhpur. "It is famous the world over for its architecture... it is a historical monument and its protection and further development for tourism is the responsibility of the government," he added.

Taj Mahal is the major tourist destination in the country. It claims to be committed to the upliftment of Agra and Taj Mahal. And yes surely it is the responsibility of the ruling government of U.P to look after , and this is a world famous place the collection of the entry fees goes up to crores

Evidences prove that Taj Mahal is a hindu vedic temple and not a memorial made by Shah Jahan. Well, I feel that the secrets should surely be revealed and history should be rewritten. It''s not about any religion or anything but the thirst of the inquisitive human brains should be quenched. Atleast, we should know what exactly our Indian History holds! Taj Mahal will always remain the epitome of architecture but we need to give the credits to the creator of the seventh wonder of the world.

If Taj Mahal is truly a relic of Shiva temple the truth has to be uncovered, there is no doubt but what is more important than creating it a ''political controversy'' is the fact that it was built by an Indian, what if the mughals were Islamic, shah jahan was born in India. And after all we are a secular country, And surely India has more important topics to ponder on rather than a 2000 year old mystery.

Taj Mahal is one of the 7th wonder of the world. It could not be politicalised for any particular party. Today, it is attrackting pilgrims towards it and would continue to do for long. I think govt. is doing its best to most expensive tourist site.

I do agree with Tanishkas point . I am damn sure that taj mahal is not built over an shiv temple . Historical evidences prove that Taj mahal is built by shajahan ..It is a heritage for India . I think instead of UP government the central government should take care of it . This is a political controversy . The ruling party is not tolerant to other religions . They wanted to make Hinduism as the dominant religion ..

Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful monument ever made on earth. It should never be part of any such controversy happening now.It was built by an Indian not a foreigner.Whether it is was built by Shajahan or some one eles it does not matter. It is an Indian monument that''s all it matters

India is a secular country. In this case it doesn''t matter who or how it was built, even though it is believed that there are some mysteries about Taj Mahal. Anyway it is an ''INDIAN'' monument and I believe that this controversy is brought just to get political attention.

Taj mahal is an epitome of architecture . We have learnt that it is a monument created by Shah Jahan , but it is a hindu vedic monument which was destroyed by the mughals and was reconstructed as a memorial of Mumtaz . Now people are discovering the constructer of it .It is a famous tourist spot and we ought to know the person behind it

Taj Mahal being the seventh wonder of the world,we have no legal proof of the creator. And of course, this has initially lead to political controversy which is not at all meaningless. We should put emphasis on the government to investigate and exemplify the secrets hidden in Taj Mahal.A majority of the proofs state that Taj Mahal is a Shiv mandir as there are wells with the scripture of lotuses and Lord Ganesh.

And Muslim-Majority countries Afghanistan,Bangladesh Don''t use the word "Mahal"to describe a palace. Many History Books says Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. But when the investigators in the present claimed that the walls were 800 years ago,it proved that a temple was already there and the Taj mahal was built about 362 years ago.His tory has to be modified in order to get right information.

Mistakes often happen, the non includement of The TAJ in the tourism booklet was merely a mistake by the Uttar Pradesh tourism. It''s completely pointless making a controversy out of it.

Taj Mahal is a gem in India and allover the world .It is also a symbol of the poweress of ancient India and the debate around it is meaningless .We should instead shift our focus around improving the tourism facilities in and around the Taj Mahal area

Roma Ramcoumar Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

After the period of Akbar the Mughals were intolerant to the Rajputs . We cant say that taj mahal is built over a shiv temple . This is really like dominating Hindu religion . And there are no historical proof to support that Taj mahal was built over shiv temple .

JOMILIN JOHN ST.ANTHONY'S SR.SEC SCHOOL

What is Taj Mahal? who made it ? when? , all these questions were answered long back to me by my history books. Today the question is not that who made it or why? rather to protect the monument and take necessary actions to keep it safe from the fluctuating environmental conditions. This task can be accomplished only if the central and the state government both come forward to execute the plans they have taken. The issue of Taj Mahal has to solved cordially without any callous attitude .

Arjun Tiwari khaitan Public School

There are many such evidences which says that Taj Mahal was a temple of Lord Shiva and was gifted to Mughals by Rajputas...And if further researches prove it then, history should be re-written but it should not hurt any religion and the thirst of truth should be quenched.
