Is A Better Behaviour Expected From Parliamentarians?

A debate is an opportunity to formally discuss opposing opinions on a particular topic in public or in legislative assemblies. Debaters should handle themselves with dignity and show respect for their opponents at all times. This is what is taught to us by our teachers in schools when we engage in debate to solve certain issues concerning the welfare of children. However, nowadays the channels are screening a different method for debating by our representatives. During the winter session of the parliament, the parliamentarians were throwing papers and shouting at the speaker.  The dignity and respect have been absent in the recent debates. The behavior of some of the representatives has been appalling and embarrassing. The people's representatives should be a model for the children to follow. Can we accept such kind of behaviour? Is it not a matter of shame to the nation?

Yes i totally agree that parliamentarians should behave in a proper way. we have selected them as the representatives not for indulging in useless talks and fights but for taking mature decisions and work for the betterment of the country rather than criticizing each other They should understand the fact that they are being watched by everyone and they are the role models for us and if they continue behaving in this manner than the vital development of our country is at stake.

I feel without knowing the sentiments of those representatives(as mentioned) we can''t judge whether he/she is wrong or not. We all enjoy the freedom of expression then, why not them. Even they have the right t showcase their anger. I think its the fault of people who take it negatively. If it would have been the fight of two commoners nobody would have bothered to spread it like that. If it is coming to decision making then anger can be accepted. behavior changes every second.

Yes, they should. After all they have been chosen by us for their supposed good qualties. Also, one of the qualifications required to be and MP or MLA is that oen need to have a sound mind. This, also includes cvic sense and decent behaviour. It is imperial that they have good behaviour.

Sneha Sehrawat ,respecting your view, i would like to point out that this is a debate, certain etiquette should be followed by the representatives. They are the face of our nation. The world is watching. They should keep up the dignity of the nation. Even if they are expressing their emotions, they can express it in a descent way which can be a model for the entire nation to adopt.

No , such kind of behaviour is not acceptable from representatives of people . It is like offending the position they are in and , of course, the whole country .

In the parliament laws are made for the country so it is necessary for the law makers to maintain a code of conduct and discipline in the parliament. As they are always just mocking at each other and do not take anything seriously so we need to get a better behavior from our law makers.

Ritvik Baweja Bal Bharati Public School

Parliamentarians are our representatives, if our representatives act like such ruffians inside the Parliament proceedings than how can we expect them to make laws for us. This abash behavior is really shameful attitude of the Parliamentarians. It shouldn''t be reciprocated.

Atharva Takalkar Pawar Public School

Undoubtedly, a way better behavior is expected from the parliamentarians. They are not debating on any other topic, but, about one relating to our country. Maintaining a cool in such circumstances is bound to bring better results. The irritation and outrage of the parliamentarians is understood as we would feel the same, were we in their shoes. However, these icons must in a more civilized manner in order to do good for the country, as well as to maintain their goodwill among public.

maitriey mann J.B.MRIGAVTI VIDYALAYA(ALIPUR G.T.K

Yes absolutely as they are the one who are representing the whole country.they should themselves think this as their responsibility.it also reflects lack of ethics and moral values

Harshit SD AdarshVidyalaya

Parliamentarians are chosen by the public because of their intelligence and presence of mind. But after seeing the present behaviour of parliamentarians I am really disappointed and have no believe in them. A much more better behaviour is expected from such smart persons because several crore rupees are being spent every session. This is common man''s money which is being wasted by such type of ignorant and self centred persons.

MUKUL CHAUDHARY KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA

NO, I do not think that parliamentarians should have a proper behavior because if we look at the present situation of the parliament, we will find that the parliamentarians behave in a very wild behavior which cannot be changed. this will continue till the law against it came.

CHAITANYA AGARWAL J.M. INTERNATIONAL SCH00L

Raising voices and slogans and disrupting parliament is just showmanship and not a responsible behaviour. Actions speak louder than words and if you do mean to do anything for the progress of the country, really do something about it - not just scream or protest in parliament.

Aakanksha Bassi LILAVATI BAI PODAR (A)-SCRUZ

Of course not, certain ettiquates should be followed by the parliamentarians also they should not forget that they are been seen on the national tv and are setting an example of indiscipline for the upcoming generations.

Harini.V Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Parliamentarians should behave properly in the assembly. Each one has the right to express their own opinion in the assembly. They should listen to everyone with patience. They must act as role models to aspiring young politicians.

Kashish Goel Bal Bharati Public School

There are a number of ways to oppose the decisions of govt but behaving like these at the most important place of a country is not right and justified. This imprints a wrong and bad impression of our country on foreigners.

Shaoni Chakraborty Army Public School Barrackpore

The work of the opposition is to keep a check, not only on the actions of the government, but also on their own actions. While debate is quintessential in the Parliament, verbal brickbat and physical assaults are to be detested there. However, some sort of harsh debate and cross-questioning is necessary for the well being of the country as well as the proper functioning of the legislature. Hence, I believe there is obviously a reform necessary for the Members of the Parliament.

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

yes after they are the representatives of the people and the ones who are running this country.

SHUBHAM BANSAL RYAN INT. SCH. SOHNA RD GURGAON

i don''''t understand why parliament session becomes a fish market everytime! politicians are fighting among themselves for small issues.Opposition instead of playing it politics game should participate in a logical and constructive debate to come out with conclusions and results benefitable for people. i think this is not acceptable.

Yes i do agree that the parliamentarians behave in a very childish manner. But we may also behave like that in the situation they are.Everyone wants others to listen to their view. Besides , our Constitution ensures the Freedom of Speech and expression to every person.
