Hemlatha: Should School Timings Be Reduced?

Nowadays, to get rank students are made to stay in school for a long time. This makes them both physically and mentally weak. I stay in school from morning 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. I'm not comfortable with it. All my friends oppose it.

This is not necessary. Stressing students is not good. I don't totally oppose it. But why should I lose my health over studies? I don't understand! We get many homework and less time to do it. Do schools expect students not to involve in anything else? I'm not complaining about all the schools. But it is a reality in some schools.

Even in my school other 10th students are leaving by 4:30 ( I feel even that's late. This is partiality. I fail to spend more time with my family.

I feel if schools are a bit different with its timing it'll be good. Thoughts?

Yes the schools should change the timings to a certain extent. There is a time for everything. If we give our entire time solely to school and studies then we will become quite unsocial. Everybody wants a balanced life which includes School, Co-curriculam activities, Familes and etc.If we spent our entire time in school, it will surely make us stressed out.

School timings should be reduced because the excess burden on students are increasing day by day. The co-curricular activities should also be reduced. It will help to make a stress free young India.

I too feel if schools are a bit different with its timing it''ll be good. Although school is fun, students also need to spend time with their family, friends and other near and dear ones. In addition to this, sometimes, students also have to face the problem of non availability of proper and sufficient sleeping hours due to which their health of both body and mind are affected.

Keerthi Vankayala The Kalyani School

Yes the school timings should be changed as 5.30 or 4.30 are very late timings where we do not have a break to relax or play or not have sufficient time to study. And we would not have much time with family . 3 or 3.30 or 2.40 are good school timings where we can have a break relax and study for the correct time and spend time with family.

Yes according to me the school timings should be changed as approximately 8 hours of a student''s daily life is given to school. It is the period of competition where each and everyone wants to be the first so if 8 hours are given to school then students would not get much time for self study as students much often go to coaching classes, they need to play to get refreshed and stay fit but students do not get time to play which is making them sluggish.

Sanika Sawarkar NARAYANA VIDYALAYAM NAGPUR

Totally agreed with this statement as per the new syllabus introduced by the CBSE they should reduce the school timings, we as students don''t get time to study we need to attend tuitions, schools and self study.

Chetna Rani PRESENTATION CONVENT(RED FORT)

I believe there should be a slight change in the timings of the school hours.students do a lot of work in the school-both physical and mental. Thus some rest and relaxation is a must for the students to cope up with studies and other arenas. But after a tiring routine the students are not able to get proper sleep amd nutrition. This is the main reason why students are not able to excell. Lack of sleep and relaxation results to low concentration level and the student is not able to progress.

School timings should definitely be altered, if not changed completely. The most productive time for teens, from about 8th grade to 12th grade at least, is after 10 A.M. To increase productivity in students and to ensure that students are also getting enough time to cope up with extra curricular activities too, it is necessary to readjust school timings.

Prerana S Kulkarni CLARENCE PUBLIC SCHOOL

I believe that the timings should definitely be changed. Having such extensive study hours can take a toll on your physical and your mental well being. Let us not forget that there are several extra curricular activities that require our attention too, as they are stress busters and will help us feel fresh and energized after a long day. The general productivity can be increased by reducing the school hours, as students won''t be able to concentrate for so long at school.

JOMILIN JOHN ST.ANTHONY'S SR.SEC SCHOOL

In India, different schools of different states follow different school schedules and timings. According to me all the schools of India must follow a similar time schedule of at least 6 hours. There is no need to reduce the school timings but rather to keep same timing for all schools. I think in school we are able to concentrate more than at home, exploring new things, clearing our doubts and having fun through studies.

V.A.Tanmai PBDAV MODEL SCHOOL

Long school hours put much pressure on students. The students would most likely go to their classes on time, because the class would overall be shorter and able for them to handle. A shorter day would leave more time for us to enjoy their lives and not have to rush through activities or assignments.so yes, i think reducing school time is a must.

I just want to know what is so special in Hemalatha''s articles that they all get published

Khushi Walia G.D. Goenka public school, PASCHIM VIHAR

Yes, school timings should be reduced. School timings should be of 6 hours and 30 minutes maximum. Long school hours put a lot of burden and pressure on students. A child will get weak and very tired after attending school for so long because of it he may even lose his childishness. Everything in life should be balanced. Students need to have enough time to relax and study extra as well. Even playing in the evening is important for students to get freshen up.

Ronit.R National Hill View Public School

Yes I totally agree with the fact that students will get stressed out and will not be able to pursue any other activity if the school does not reduce the amount of hours it makes a student study .Apart from this this will also affect a students mental health and well being

Mahir Dodiya F D SCHOOL

Definitely It should be reduced by deo of respective city.Home+Parents gives us Knowledge that''s better than school.

TANISHKA SINGH CMA, Ankleshwar

The school timings must not be reduced, but the students should take some interest in their studies. As if they will take interest, there might not be a question of changing their school timings. Yes, but if the schools are making them do nothing and just wasting their times, there can be a change in such cases too. Otherwise, if we study a little more, I don''t think that it can harm us in any way.

Yashvi.V.Jain Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ch

Yes,school timings should be reduced as we don''t have as I don''t have time to spend with our families. The school authority mast less the time of schools to and certain extent. Let the school be fun not a burden.

Ujwal Kc RMS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Students are the country''s future. School force students to read more and get rank. Students often fell getting behind the bars. Students often feel that illiterates lead the better life than going to school and start reading. It stress so much that students gets fever. It often happens to me. Students have many responsibilities to be done, moreover studies. There must be time gap for everything to enjoy.

Avichal SCHOLARS GLOBAL SCHOOL

No,From my side the timings should not be reduced but the weight of the bags which is the main reason for children''s tiredness after the school. We should not blame the timings for that

Prathamesh Kandale HILLGREEN SCHOOL

of course schools should not keep such lengthy school timings.students are totally freaked out within 6 hours.keeping them for more than 6 hours not only affects their mental ability but it also makes them physically weak.6 hrs school is the best timings both for students and teachers.

Shweta Ullala National Academy For Learning

If we spend a lot of time in school then we can interact with our friends and we will be able to keep our gadgets aside. If school timings are reduced, it would only be an excuse for us to spend the remaining time on a sort of gadget which is a waste of time!

Shweta Ullala National Academy For Learning

This is a debatable topic....Many would say yes and many would disagree....I for one would disagree with reducing school timings

Aryayan Bhowmick Techno India Group Public School

Most of the school over India has not changed their pattern of education since the industrial age, where people were made to stand for long hours, and the same happens in schools. Now the students have different aspiration and choose different streams. So, without spending more timing on school hours focusing on varieties of subjects, the timings should be reduced by giving them liberty to choose their own stream from the very beginning. This will lead to a healthy and better-developed future.
