Feel strongly about what’s happening around, voice it here

The sale of e-readers declined in 2016. Does that translate into a victory for print over technology?

Fortunately, this can be the beginning of the victory of print over modern technology. The feel-good feeling we get when we hold a book does not come through with e-readers. Plus, they strain our eyes and make us feel tired. Print brought about a big change in the world and we should preserve this beautiful technology.

Srijita Chakraborty, class X, BDMI, Kolkata

Definitely. Every manufacturer is trying to make their e-reader similar to real books. Why? Because e-readers just don't provide the same kind of experience. People have realised this now and are moving back to print. I still cherish each and every book that I have bought.

Yes, this marks the victory of print over virtual books. Print gives you the physical and mental satisfaction of reading a story. Even if the younger generation is glued to digital information, they still like to hold a book instead of an electronic gadget. It is so because the print form is easier to read.

Yes, surely this says that printed books have emerged victoriously over gadgets, as people are more used to and love reading REAL books! When some new item releases, people get too excited and buy it, but gradually, over time, they understand that it is better to go with the real stuff than gadgets...

Not really. One major reason why sale of E-readers have plummeted down so steeply is the vast array of e-reader apps on other platforms like Android and iOS. Also plagiarized and pirated versions of popular books are quite easily available online, so readers have got an unrestricted liberty to read free of cost which have led to decline in sales of e-readers. Otherwise as a regular reader, i always prefer E-readers due to its reader - friendly features.

yes .. e-books are being used a lot but reading books is more enthusiastic than these gadgets . I dont find e-books as interesting as reading the books which are the best .

I feel that this is the first victory for print media over the digital platform. This has once again proved the effectiveness of a book over a e-reader as the feel of holding a book can never be matched by that of an e-reader .

Yes, surely this says that printed books have emerged victoriously over gadgets, as people are more used to and love reading REAL books!
