Can Nitish Kumar give a tough fight to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections? Should Kumar consider contesting for the post?

From demonetisation to GST, surgical strikes and  foreign ties, Modi has been phenomenal as Prime Minister. As of now, it seems impossible for the people to get away from the charm of PM Modi. Nitish Kumar would need a strong support from other parties to give Modi a tough fight.

With a clean image, Nitish Kumar made his name in Bihar, but the state is way small compared to the nation as a whole. Also considering the weak opposition at this time, it may not be a wise decision to risk something he has now for something he wants – just like Arvind Kejriwal did in the 2014 elections.

Nitish Kumar is governing Bihar well and has acceptance among many opposition parties, but his reach is limited to only a few pockets of influence. The major opposition party may want their leader to be the PM and may not support Nitish wholeheartedly. Modi is better placed and enjoys more popularity.

The charming leader and mentor of current India PM Modi would definitely a tough obstacle to overcome, if Nitish kumar wants to give a tough fight to him in the 2019 elections then obviously he needs to win the trust of the citizens. Even though he has done humongous deeds in past few years. However, it cannot be ignored that his lack of popularity and political support might turn against him.

well, agreed that nitish kumar has been able to keep his clean public image intact but competing against Namo is quite out of reach for him or in general, for anybody. At present Namo led NDA has mandate and it is hard to compete against it.
