Do You Trust Your Government?

More than four-fifths of Indian citizens trust the government, but, interestingly, the majority also support military rule and autocracy, a new survey by the Pew Research Center, Pew survey said recently.

"In India, where the economy has grown on average by 6.9% since 2012, 85% (of people) trust their national government," Pew Research said in a report based on its survey on governance and trust among key countries.

According to the survey, 55% of Indians support autocracy in one way or the other. In fact, more than one-fourth (27%) want a "strong leader".

Nearly half of the Russians (48%) back governance by a strong leader, but the prospect is generally unpopular, the report said.

A global median of 26% say a system in which a strong leader can make decisions without "interference from parliament or the courts" would be a "good way of governing". Roughly seven in 10 (71%) say it would be a bad type of governance.

To be true I don''t completely trust my government. First considering state government, I''m not confident. So because if this I am literally scared what government is going to do. Will our government stop all issues? But still i have some faith!

Huneiza Mohamed Saki Sadhu Vaswani International School, Navi Mumbai

I do not completely trust the government. Sometimes, it goes back on it''s word. It also cause some inconvenience to the citizens. Of course, something is better than nothing, and it is good that there is a leader whom we can follow.

Vishnupriya Saji Army Public School, PRTC

I too trust the present government. Instead of looking at the negatives we must look on to the more positive side of the government and support it when the need arises, after all people are the ones who select their Representatives who in turn form the government.

I too fully trust the present government and have faith in the measures they have taken towards the progress of the country. EVerything cannot be the way we want, and some inconvenience as was caused during demonetisation is expected when radical changes are made. We cannot eat the cake and have it too!

Yes, I believe in our current government as it is benefiting our country. It is not only launching policies for now but for future as well, the policies launched are all long term policies which would benefit India in future also. Policies like demonetization, implementation of G.S.T, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and steps towards upliftment of Indian economy are true delight for the nation. Many weapons have also been brought up from other countries and the bond b/w them have also strengthen up....

Tanishka KHAITAN PUBLIC SCHOOL(NOIDA SEC_40)

it is imperetivefor a democratic country that the people have faith in their government. because we only made them come to power. any government requires support from the public to take up any task. if we don''t show any faith in our government we can never expect the oppositon to do so... it would only result in new elections and that too on our cost. all political parties are guided by their interest to work for the people so that they may get re elected so lets be patient and have trust.

Manav Lodha Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School

Yes, we must trust our government because there must be a reason for which they have been elected and that trust within the people that they will do the pomises is what made them the government . we simply cannot blame the govt. because there must be some reason for which they fail to fulfil our needs. A MUTUAL TRUST between the govt. and citizens will lead to a better future .

Ritvik Baweja BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (PITAM PUR

The world ‘government’ means a group of people who are responsible for controlling a country or a state. Although the exact day or date of when human beings created their own government is not clear, there were lots of events that caused the government to change. I personally think that the government has many flaws, failings and weaknesses. It doesn''t work the way it ideally should, but it does function in a basic sense. I''d like it to work better, but I trust it to do more good than harm.
