Do You Think WhatsApp Is Doing Enough To Curb Fake News?

WhatsApp holds back very little information with its end-to-end encryption. This technology helps in maintaining privacy and also protects the user. They have come up with the strategy of letting the user know which message is ‘forwarded’, but I think the use of ‘spam’ or ‘fake’ tag on a wider base will help tremendously.

I think WhatsApp has taken a smart step by limiting the forwards to five messages at a time. I am sure this will help in curbing the issue of spreading fake news as, earlier, people used to send messages to hundreds of people in one go.

I recently read about a Delhi-based professor who is working on an app-  based solution to tackle the problem of spreading fake news via WhatsApp. If it is successful in identifying fake news from real, it will surely benefit the application users.

It’s true that if a group of people choose to believe rubbish and act violently on it, the ultimate responsibility for any horrors perpetrated is theirs. It’s also true that in many lynching cases policing has been ineffective. The likes of WhatsApp, though, can and must do more, and commentators who say otherwise are being at best naive. In fact, even companies offering these services don’t seem to agree with pundits who say they are not to be blamed.

Yes, I believe that whatsapp is doing its best to curb such issues, since fake news and rumours forwarded via whatsapp are doing a lot of harm to the society. Thus, whatsapp announced that it will limit forwarding of messages to 5 chats at once in India to check the misuse of its platform at a time when rumours and fake news spread on the app has led to several killings at such a large scale.

It''s true that WhatsApp has become a fake news point. A person for prank creates this and forward''s it to others which goes on forwarding, but the person may not know the consequence of it,some might not believe it but many do believe it and which a cause a problem. Fake news spread faster than Real or good news. Rumours is equal to a cyber crime where you fool others which may even be your family friends or others but whomever it affects a lot. WhatsApp is designed for massaging not for fake

Whats app has been very popular app in our country these days.Daily many vedios and texts get viral on it and many of us believe in it without even checking the source wether is correct. So i think Whatsapp is doing a great job by making people know what they read or see is fake or not. So people get correct and give correct.

Fake new becomes a world problem even it has become the word of the year . everyone is trying in different ways to curb fake news from being spread. I have read that a Delhi professor with his team is trying to curb fake news on Whats App and in its new version it has limit to send forwarded pictures or text to only five peoples a day. WhatsApp has been trying to curb fake news but more development is needed and it is best to do little efforts in compare with not put any efforts.

The worst thing one has to bear with WhatsApp are fake news . Although I am not a frequent user,. I think WhatsApp has taken a good step the limiting the forwards to five messages at a time, also they have enabled a feature which allows a recipient to see whether the message is forwarded one. These are good steps to begin with however WhatsApp should be able to track the originator of the fake news and bringing it to the notice of the authorities. Thus effectively curbing the menace.
