Citizens' Participation Key To Combat Air Pollution, Says Anupriya

India lost 1.4 million lives to air pollution in 2013, while in China the toll was 1.6 million, says a World Bank report. What’s your take?

Air pollution is a major contributor to unhealthy living. Conserving energy, understanding the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle and promote the use of public transport can help us tide over the problem. Alongside pollution control we need to adopt means of environment upliftment. Citizens need to work with the government to accomplish this.

Anupriya Dubey, class XI, DPS, Jankipuram, Lucknow

It is time to sound the alarm bell or we will perish. The government must immediately make an effort to enforce stringent pollution drives and, at the same time, undertake a massive tree plantation exercise wherever possible. A thick forest cover can put an end to many pollution problems we are facing today.

Nishchal Thakkar, class X, BAPS, Ahmedabad

The study shows that air pollution is the new man-made monster. The government needs to chalk out multi-pronged measures. To begin with, since the major source of pollution in cities are personal vehicles, their numbers have to be curtailed; public transport should be promoted in a big way.

Nobody knows what will happen for our future generation. So it is must we have to take some environmental measures to reduce the pollution. Such that our generation will live pollution free life. Moreover government also should take some measures.

Heti Desai SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR

Government should take an action against these problems or ban petrol and diesel completely . I think we humans are only responsible for these problems and thus we should only look after our nature and take care of it . We can avoid it by planting trees , switching off the car engine when on signal . We can also transfer cars to CNG gas rather than using petrol or diesel. Even auto rikshaws should be transfered to CNG gas .This will help us to improve the environment.

China has more population than India. So there is no much difference between the loss of lives in both the countries. Every vehicle should be checked in regular intervals that they do not cause air pollution. Or like New Delhi chief minister Kejiriwal, vehicles should be allowed in odd and even numbers on alternate days throughout our country.

In order to combat deaths due to air pollution we as citizens should try to minimise the usage of private cars ,bursting crackers and burning leaves or any such substance. Car-pooling should not just be the idea instead it should be the practice. Moreover, planting trees won''t be enough one should nurture them as well.

Air pollution is dominating over us. It leads to hazardous diseases. It is should be the topmost priority for us to combat aircraft pollution. There should be more of CNG operated cars. Car pooling should be appreciated and precipitates should be installed in factories.

It is high time for we citizens to think and act upon this issue . If we are not concerned about our future in this planet earth what is the use of playing blame game . It is our duty and responsibility to do our part to reduce pollution.

Furqan Abid JAMIA SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

Its true that we, the human beings are destroying the earth. We say that government is not doing this and that. Only our government is not responsible. Its the responsibility of each and every person living on this earth. We need to come up with new ideas. Government should also make some decision against air pollution.

Sarath Kumar RM Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

Air pollution has become a serious problem as it has started claiming lives in millions. Letting out harmful gases from vehicles and industries has resulted in the depletion many natural resources as well as the ozone layer. I suggest the government to take important measures in reducing pollution. We can also adopt KEJRIVAL''s odd even vehicle system.

Archisha Ghosh VIDYA VALLEY

In the past there were cycles, in the present there are vehicles causing air pollution, for the future... I leave it to your imaginations. But in the present, there are rules enforced to use more of public transports but then the citizens of our country just think about their comfort, but we need to think about others too. We must also use CNG gas. But we know, who follows these laws untill and unless they are threaten to do so!

Mansi Borade PADUA HIGH SCHOOL-MANKHURD

The air pollution that is spreading is because of us. Because of increasing in vehicles the pollution is also increasing and and the hole generation is getting spoil and damage because of us .

KAVYASRI R M Bethel Mat Hr Sec School

This news speaks about the hazardous nature of the polluted air.People cannot blame the government always. As responsible citizens each one of us must take proper measures to reduce air pollution. This will surely inspire many and the government will take some measures

JIYA TOMAR B G S NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL

Air pollution is certainly the crux of today and has proved being nothin less than a demon for all humans now. Although we are very much aware of how detrimental air pollution is we are so stubbqorn and grim that we don''t really even bother to exterminate air pollution and instead tend to do such things that only intensifies this. Hence, I would say that instead of merely making false statements and rallying we must actuate our owes

Palaash Agarwal DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL ROHINI

Air pollution is one of the biggest problems in the world. It can only be stopped when people spread awareness about this issue and govt acts on it.The main cause of pollution is traffic jams. People should less frequently use cars and vehicles as it leads to extreme exhaustion of fossil fuel which is a limited natural resource. People shouldn''t also blame others but have to be self-responsible for this. The sales of electric cars should be promoted as it doesn''t creates pollution.

Nishi Upadhyay BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL (SWASTHYA VHR)

If we join hands to fight pollution then this country can be pollution free.
