Can Virat Kohli Break All Records Of Sachin?

When Virat Kohli is on song, he is unstoppable. Kohli, like Sachin Tendulkar has a plethora of records to his name. With his sheer batting prowess and hunger for runs, the Indian run-machine is tipped to break at least a few of Tendulkar’s monumental records.

Former India cricketer and one of the best attacking batsmen ever to have played the game, Virender Sehwag feels Kohli is the best batsman of this generation at the moment and that the current Indian captain will break most of Sachin's records, barring one.

"At the moment, Virat (Kohli) is the best batsman. The way he is scoring centuries, the way he is scoring runs, he is the best. I am sure he will break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s records," Virender Sehwag told Timesofindia.com in an interview.

Kohli, who has smashed two back-to-back centuries in the recently-concluded One-Day International (ODI) series against the West Indies in the Caribbean islands, has 43 ODI centuries to his name already and needs just seven centuries more to break Tendulkar’s world record. Tendulkar scored 49 centuries in 463 ODIs (452 innings).

Tendulkar scored 18426 runs in his ODI career at an average of 44.83, while Kohli has an astonishing average of 60.31 in 239 ODIs (230 innings).

In Tests, Kohli is just about half-way through to Tendulkar’s centuries record. The Indian skipper has 25 centuries under his belt in 77 Tests (131 innings), while the Sachin scored 51 centuries in 200 Tests (329 innings).

"The one record no one can break is his (Sachin) 200 Test matches record. I don’t think anyone can break his record of playing 200 Test matches. I don’t think anybody can play more than 200 Test matches,” Sehwag said.
