Algorithms Developed To Train Robots For Army. Good move?

With the arms race on the rise globally, bringing in new soldiers with advanced weaponry or an army of robots, will start another cold war, among all nations of the world. Instead, the funds should be utilised to ensure food, water, shelter, health, education and safety for all.

The AI-based robots are self adaptive to every situation in war zones. The new algorithm would make their learning more human-based, where they could learn tactics from videos and improvise themselves. They can take the place of human soldiers and save lives.

Kush Trivedi, class IX, Shree Chandulal Nanavati Vinay Mandir, Mumbai

How friendly these robots are going to be with their environment and fellow human counterparts is yet to be seen. But I still feel that the sensitivity, warmth and understanding that a human soldier displays cannot be replicated or taught to robots, even if they are the greatest inventions of modern technology. After all, they are machines.

Yes, it is a good move. In this generation robots are way too accurate than humans. In fact Artificial Intelligence is coming up with excellent algorithms to train robots for many specific reasons in a very accurate manner. It would be beneficial for us, as this accuracy could help by supporting the military and decrease the chances of terror attacks and deaths.

Yes, I think it is good move because by this we can stop human death . Mother cry for her children by loosing them .There is a lot of wishful thinking in the comments but the simple fact of the matter is, fighter pilots will one day be replaced by autonomous aircraft. All of the excuses provided below as to why that won''t happen are either ignorant of current realities or grasping at nostalgia.

Well, according to me, it is not a good move. How many more funds will be wasted for creation of these AI robots for war purposes when the global intention is peace and prosperity? Instead these funds can be utilised for eradicating problems like poverty, food insecurity etc.

Ganesh Chaudhary New Horizon Public School Airoli, Navi Mumbai

Hacking is a threat becoming bigger and bigger these days. So I don''t feel that robots can be helpful in the army.

This move can result likely in both ways because the way they are going to be with their surroundings and understand fellow being is yet something to be noticed. As far I think that this move should be restrained because robots, lacking feelings and sensitivity and are ought to be ordered first and cant make decisions on their own when in problems.

Tanay NES International School Mumbai

This is a very controversial topic. Many might debate that this is beneficial for mankind and others might suggest that this will start wars and conflicts. I have a neutral take on this. I believe these algorithms must not be used until there is a crisis. On the other hand developing them was a good move as these might be helpful in critical situations.
