After Naidu's Win, Is Defeat Complete For Congress?

Congress lost yet another power perch with the defeat of the opposition's candidate in the vice-presidential election, in what marks the party's final exit from the power matrix that consolidated in its favour during the decade of UPA rule. Venkaiah Naidu in the VP's chair joins Ram Nath Kovind, who was last month elected to the post of President. Both belong to BJP — and their win marks a radical shift from the recent past when these posts saw the election of Congress nominees for two consecutive terms.

Though the lead opposition party was reconciled to this result after its decimation in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the implications started sinking in with Saturday's election. Besides the demoralising symbolism of being absent from all the top constitutional positions, the VP's election has implications for what has been the opposition and Congress's last source of political standing — the Rajya Sabha.

Well not really as he belongs to the parliament and not a particular party . He is a speaker and while he can be a little lenient he cannot completely support a particular party .at it goes down his job is to be fair while the sessions take place . Yes , if the congress violates a rule then there are chances that it goes down

I think that Congress is still a large and considerable party. It will get numerous chance ahead but these chances should be grabbed. After defeat in 2014 Loksabha elections it did not change itself. Instead of taking out some new propaganda it blamed the ruling party. If you don''t chance with time then your quality time will change into unpleasant time.

I think so that in a short time, congress will be a regional party. There are only 13 non-NDA states. That means 60% of the population is under NDA rule. I m really not supporting BJP.But that''s the true. So these are signs that congress is becoming a minority.

winning or losing doesn''t count but participation matters. In this situation,CONGRESS party needs to be attentive about the present problems going on the party''s execution. When a candidate loses an election,it is not just the loss of election but the loss of party execution and the members.

Congress, if it improves its policies and does a bit more for the public, might be able to win Vidhan Sabha elections in many states and eventually work its way up to the Lok Sabha. If public gives them another chance, then it should really do something or it might wane away as a useless political party.

Of cource of yes,Vice-Presidential Election Venkaiah Naidu''s win marks victory of common people, says Mehbooba Mufti and the BJP party has spread like top to bottom.I.e.president-Ram nath kovind ,prime minister-Narendra modi and upcoming Vice president-venkaiah.99.9%of chance to BJP.

Neehal Sharrma THE BISHOPS SCHOOL

Congress hasn''t really changed since 2014, when they lost horribly to BJP and from the looks of it, they don''t intend to do anything about it. Recent events have only strengthened the belief that they are outdated, and need to keep up with the times. Unless Congress ups their game, chances of them surviving in the current political landscape are slim to none.

congress''s end was marked by landslide victory of Modi in 2014 general elections. Today BJP is an undisputed political party in entire country. With 16 state governments, President, Prime Minister, Vice-President BJP is dominating Indian politics. Rahul Gandhi''s puerile behaviour is what ruing the Congress.

I feel that other political parties should not celebrate as the congress party is very capable of reviving itself as the nature of Indian politics changes very fast
