My First Experience At Hongkong Disneyland

Visiting Hong Kong Disneyland was indeed a magical experience for my entire family. No one is too young or old to have a great time here. Me with My MOM and DAD traveled to Disneyland and spent unique 6 days in Hongkong. We spent quite a bit of time exploring Hong Kong Disneyland during our visit. with our tour guide it was easy exploring Hongkong. We spent 2 days full in disney land. It is good to visit Disney Land on a weekday. We managed to time our full day in the park on a Thursday, and we experienced minimal lines almost the entire day. When we returned to the park for a half day on Saturday, however, the lines had more than quadrupled. Lots of locals have annual passes and you should expect the park to be packed on weekends. Hong Kong is like New York — stay up late at night and start the next morning late. Consequently, Hong Kong Disneyland doesn’t open until 10 am most days. But 10 am is still too early for most Hong Kong residents, because the park was close to empty at rope drop. We walked on ride after ride for the first two hours the park was open. It really didn’t get busy most days until around lunchtime. And 3:00-5:00 seemed to be the busiest time of the day. So, if you can start your day earlier than the locals, you can really avoid the crowds. Right after entering the park in the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad at Main Street U. S. A. which we rode on the second day. It took us straight to Fantasyland. It was a nice and easy ride and we saw some animals from the Jungle River Cruise along the way. As part of the special tour we got reserved sidewalk space for an up close look at the colorful Flights of Fantasy Parade. All the floats were from different Disney movies and all had moving characters or live people dancing around. Our next stop was at Adventureland where we took the Jungle River Cruise. It was a really entertaining ride for all ages. Our captain was a gregarious fellow who never failed to point out all the realistic animals and lots of special effects. These ‘men’ on the tree actually moved and yelled. The next ride was at Fantasyland’s it’s a small world where moving and singing costumed dolls representing different countries sang the same song in the local dialect. Here two Filipinas sang “maliit ang mundo”. Our final stop for the day was the newly opened Toy Story Land. The bigger than life props and grass made me feel like I was one of Andy’s toys. We had to interrupt to catch the Disney in the Stars Fireworks show complete with music which made it even thrilling to watch. When you dine here you get to meet the Disney characters as they go around the dining area and you can have your picture taken with them. Next was the 3D or should I say 4D movie experience. I loved how the food and characters seem to jump at you. But what surprised and delighted me more was the occasional spray of water directed at my face and the delicious smell that wafted in the theater whenever food came out on screen. This was one of my favorite shows. Each area in the park has it’s own colorful and specially themed restaurant. Another show I enjoyed very much was The Stitch Encounter. Even though I haven’t watched the movie Lilo and Stitch I was simply amazed how the animated character on screen spoke and interacted with the audience. I don’t know how they managed to make the character move and speak in sync to the improvised and unscripted repartee between Stitch and the audience. It’s one show you should not miss!!! We went back to Fantasyland to take more pictures. Everything looked different at night. The lighting in Disneyland was dramatic and created a different feeling when walking around the park. You really have to experience both daytime and nighttime Disneyland. I love Disney character meet-and-greets as much as any Disney fan, and we always make sure to schedule time to meet Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the crew. Character meet-and-greets seem to be especially popular in Hong Kong Disneyland. They are so popular that everyone who arrives early to the park seems to stop for the first character they see. At rope drop, we saw lines already 50+ people deep for Mickey and Duffy in Main Street. We were sorely tempted to stop too, but we instead made a beeline for Fantasyland only to find it was completely empty. We had a chance to see Mickey at our character dining earlier that morning, and we were better able to use the time for rides before everyone else had delved deeper into the park. And we made sure to visit characters at other moments later in the day, when all the lines for everything were long. Winnie the Pooh is one of the most popular attractions. Luckily, Hong Kong Disneyland offers Fastpass for the attraction, which allows you to cut all but about the last 3-5 minutes of waiting time on the ride. Since Hong Kong Disneyland doesn’t offer many rides with Fastpasses (when we were there, only Space Mountain and Winnie the Pooh were offering Fastpass), you can easily grab multiple Fastpasses for this ride throughout the day and ride it many times with minimal waiting. We made a point to see both of the live action shows that were playing at Hong Kong Disneyland, and I’m so glad we did. But the shows at Hong Kong Disneyland were worth it. We also really enjoyed The Golden Mickeys, a musical revue of some great Disney classics. The “story” between the musical numbers was presented in Cantonese with English subtitles so it felt truly like a local experience. Hong Kong Disneyland is a one day park, but I think this advice is outdated. With three new lands having opened in the past few years (Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, and Toy Story Land), it has enough to keep even a moderate Disney fan busy for more than one day. If you want to have time to truly explore the shopping, shows, restaurants, and character meet-and-greets (rather than just ride each attraction once and move on) you will need more than one day. The park still doesn’t offer as much as Anaheim or the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, but it is a full-fledged theme park with plenty to offer. Thank you Hong Kong Disneyland for the fantastic and super duper fun week. I never imagined I would enjoy Disneyland so much. There’s really more to eating and shopping in Hong Kong. There’s Disneyland.
