Cursed Child Broadway In The Making

The producers of "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child" are in talks to bring the West End play to Broadway.

The news was revealed on Jk Rowling's Pottermore site, where producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender announced they were in the final stages of talks to transfer the production to the US, reported Contactmusic.
According to Pottermore, the plan is to stage the play at the Lyric Theatre in New York in the spring of 2018, after the theatre undergoes a multi-million-dollar transformation.
"The moment we opened in the West End, the inevitable question was 'when are you going to Broadway?" Friedman said.
"So we brought the creative team to New York in September this year to look at many of the beautiful theatres in New York city."
Eventually, the team settled on The Lyric Theatre, which will be completely remodelled to accommodate the unique production.
Friedman added: "We are still subject to planning, but assuming we get the go ahead, we will have the theatre of our dreams that will be intimate enough for a drama, yet big enough for us to follow in the footsteps of the London production and continue to provide low priced tickets throughout the auditorium."
"The Cursed Child" opened in London's Palace Theatre in July, receiving rave reviews from fans and critics.
Last month it was named Best Stage Play at the London Evening Standard Theater Awards. PTI
