Just 10 kilometers from the centre of the city, yet away from the humdrum of traffic, the location of the school is ideal for a complete learning experience.

NHVPS is a forerunner to a group of institutions established by the National Education Foundation, a trust comprising a group of young and highly resourceful individuals, dedicated to the cause of quality education under the dynamic chairmanship of Mr. D.K.Shivakumar.

We follow the CBSE syllabus through a well-planned and need based yet flexible, challenging and creative curriculum, which is in keeping with our guiding philosophy.

Our continuous and comprehensive system of evaluation encourages students to pursue excellence in a healthy competitive environment and equips them academically, socially and emotionally with sound moral and ethical values.

Education at NHVPS reflects Ulysses’ ever persevering spirit, “To Strive, To Seek, To Find, and not to Yield”. Our motto thus is to strive with shrama, to seek with Shraddha and to find our shreya

Every learning moment here is a moment of truth that goes far beyond mere academics making the teaching-learning process enriching and enjoyable.

The faculty believes that Learning is to know that Education is to feel and respond. Our teachers pledge themselves to strive to provide a safe, caring and orderly environment, where all the students will have optimum opportunity for growth in all areas: Academic, Emotional, Social, Physical and Moral.

National Hill View Public School belongs as much to the students as to the faculty whose skills are strengthened through continuous training and upgradation to match contemporary trends, yet upholding tested and tried traditional techniques  ; such a school culture wraps the learner and the learned in one realm of

  • Self-Discipline
  • Resourcefulness
  • Commitment
  • High Sense of Belonging
  • Unity in Mission

In order to empower the students to cater to their aptitude and enable them to sight and seek their own potential, equal importance is attached to academic and non-academic activities. To foster learning through a creative, integrated and inter-disciplinary approach, which offers every student the opportunity to pursue his interests, equal importance is given to Scholastic and Co- scholastic activities. The campus, aptly equipped with its state-of-the-art facilities in the spacious classrooms, Science and Mathematics laboratories, internet enabled Computer and audio-visual centres, further enhances the learning environment providing education with a difference.

Excursions and field trips that kindle community awareness along with art and culture strings woven into the curriculum, create the perfect platform for nurturing a holistic approach. Expertise and special time is provided for performing arts, games and sports, yoga and karate.

We have a bright, airy and well-stocked library. Its inviting series of classic literature and fiction for all class levels, and periodical and reference sections, serves as an activity centre for the young information seekers.

The mini woods form a canopy over the natural rocky terrain interspaced with bushes bedecked with flowers,  and are a home for birds of many a feather- an ideal hub for innumerable activities enabling hands-on environmental experience within the school campus. Play-fields and other sports facilities provide for the physical well-being of the students and staff, alike.

Students are encouraged to participate actively in intra-school and inter- school competitions comprising quizzes, literary events including debates, declamation, theatre and role play, cultural performances and sports and games. They also participate in individual and group presentations at the Model UN and Science exhibitions and in problem solving events through computer programming, all of which offer them the opportunity to research and learn while doing. This provides them a platform for developing self-confidence, good communication skills, team behaviour and leadership skills. Our students are today securely positioned across the globe in organizations offering their expertise in several fields and at universities of repute pursuing higher education in engineering, medicine and law.

Qwiz the first ever Inter-School Teachers' Quiz hosted on  2nd September 2004 to celebrate 'The Teacher' has become a calendar event and is looked forward to by the entire teacher fraternity of Bangalore. Our sincere endeavour over the past 15 years has  been to realize our dream of achieving Quality Education through the ’Golden Learning Triangle’ , a seamless experience of learning where the students, their parents and the school strengthen each other in a symbiotic partnership towards the same goal, leading the young minds from the shadows of the unfamiliar to the brilliance of learning.

Thinking makes things happen! Every child enters this beautiful world endowed with innocence and trust. He begins to learn from that very moment. By the time he is of school age, he has many ideas about himself and the world based on a wide range of experiences his home environment offers and he lives in a magical realm in which thinking makes things happen. His wonder and yearning to learn grows during his school years, which are indeed the best years of his life. The purpose of a school, in the true sense is education, which develops a child into a complete individual, enabled and empowered with skills, ideals and values preparing him for life. Hence, school life goes far beyond the confines of structured instruction, as education is training, guidance and discipline derived from experiences. Its purpose, thus, is man making! The environment at home and school play a very important role for the proper growth of the child. Parents as well as the teachers inspire the child by the way they live their lives. The ideal character of the parent and teacher constantly before them serve as the role models for them to follow. In a good learning environment as in a school ,where one of the participants is charged with facilitating the learning of another, ,the learners'''' goals , methods of pursuing their goals, and their relationship to the context of the learning situation are all crucial to success, for both the learner and the facilitator. Education at school kindles curiosity, encourages the spirit of exploration and offers immense opportunity for the joy of discovery. The knowledge the child gains at school empowers him with the courage to explore the unknown, take the path not trodden and scale heights no one has dared. Knowledge has no limits. Every peak one scales has a signpost pointing to many more to be scaled. Such fearless pursuit of knowledge and the thirst for more, liberates the learner and lays the foundation for sound character building. School education, thus, creates good, committed, honest and principled citizens empowered with sound decision making and prioritizing of options, sensitivity to those not as privileged as us, patience and tolerance. Qualities like modesty, nobility, humility, dignity and simplicity symbolize the educated. Education is all about bringing out the best in an individual as we believe that the best is already within us. School education in our country meticulously includes all those studies, which are necessary for the all-around development of the body, mind and soul of the individual. These studies can be brought under the broad heads of physical culture, history, lives of great men, nature and environment, classics, aesthetics, language, religion, science and technology. The culture of India has its roots in her spiritual values. The time-tested values are imbibed in the thoughts and lives of the students through the study of the classics and scriptures which we believe will keep the perennial flow of our spiritual values into the world culture. The sense of dignity in the learner rises when he becomes conscious of his inner spirit and that is the very purpose of education. By Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of education, education is not a mere accumulation of information but a comprehensive training for life. Education for him means that process by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, and intellect is sharpened, as a result of which one can stand on one’s own feet. He lays great stress on physical health because a sound mind resides in a sound body. However, along with physical culture, he stresses on the need of paying special attention to the culture of the mind. The mind of the students has to be controlled and trained through meditation, concentration and practice of ethical purity. All success in any line of work, he emphasizes, is the result of the power of the mind. He said, ” if the mind is intensely eager , everything can be accomplished-mountains can be crumbled into atoms.” Education thus, is not a means to wealth, status or prosperity in the physical context. Like culture, education is a continuum of learning in which knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next or even within the same generation .It occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels or acts. Humans, we believe, are the only species that has the ability to reason and analyse. It is this strength that enables us to differentiate right from wrong. True education strives to harmonize the traditional values with the new values brought through the progress of science and technology. Thus the definition of education implies a process of attaining and assisting others to attain optimal attitudes that enable a person to perceive accurately, think clearly, and act effectively according to self-selected goals achieved as a result of the interactions between the minds of many or all of the members of a Caring community.. Let us pay tribute to this great teacher and philosopher, Swami Vivekananda and give serious thought to his philosophy of education and remember his call to every-body-‘Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.’ Rama Ranganathan Principal National Hill View Public School
