Sonal Srivastava: The mind is easily distracted, especially in our adolescent years. How can we make the mind stable?

Swami Gyananand: The mind is stable but we make it unstable. Things keep changing constantly in this world. We are able to sit on a chair only when it is stable. Only when the mind is concentrated on God, can it attain eternal peace. The mind is energised by meditating on Supreme Reality.

Sonal Srivastava: Most young people wonder how they will succeed if they leave everything to God?

Swami Gyananand: Young people waste too much energy worrying about the future — instead, they can use the same energy for their current tasks. They shouldn’t focus so much on the future, for it has no existence of its own; it’s dependent on our present. So it is best to focus on our present. Think of God as source of energy, power and confidence. When we connect with God, it charges our mind, like we charge our phones.

You should focus on things that make others happy and are auspicious for everybody. We should be aware of our thoughts and develop a compassionate heart. n
